Hawlucha is one of 26 Pokemon to get a new mega evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. It's also one of only a handful of Pokemon that can't be found in Wild Zones or obtained through evolution, which can make adding one to your Lumiose Pokedex a little difficult if you don't already know where to look for it.
How to Get All Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends Z-A (Mega Stone Locations)
Unlock the power of Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A! Discover how to get all 66 Mega Stones as you progress through the main story.
Thankfully, catching Hawlucha in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is fairly simple, as it has a few guaranteed spawn points. One of these is accessible within the first few hours of the game, so those hoping to get Hawlucha early can do so with relative ease. This guide will explain where to find Hawlucha and how to mega evolve it.
How to Catch Hawlucha in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Players can find Hawlucha on the roof of Restaurant Le Yeah, which is to the west of
Wild Zone 3. However, before they can get up onto the rooftop in question, they'll first need to complete Side Mission 004: Break Time Battle, which requires them to battle a construction worker so that he'll finish his break and fix the nearby holovator. He has a level 8
Pidgey, a level 8
Budew, and a level 10
Emolga, so players shouldn't have too much trouble bringing him down. Once they do, they can ride the Holovater up to the rooftop.
From here, players should follow the rooftop around until they see a rolled-up spiderweb leading across to another rooftop. Hitting this web with any ranged attack will cause it to open up, allowing them to walk across to the other side. They'll then want to cross the wooden plank to their right, which will lead them to the area where Hawlucha likes to hang out. It spawns during both day and nighttime hours, but if it's not there for whatever reason, players can use the nearby benches to change the time of day.
The best way to catch Hawlucha is to sneak up on it and hit it with a back catch, so it's a good idea to perform a manual save before approaching it. This is because Pokemon Legends: Z-A only autosaves when a Pokemon is caught or knocked out, so players can restart the game and reload their save file if their initial attempts to catch Hawlucha are unsuccessful. Alternatively, they can knock it out and try to catch it before it runs away.
Hawlucha is weak against Lightning, Flying, Psychic, Fairy, and Ice-type attacks, so players have plenty of options if they decide to opt for this approach.
If Hawlucha runs away after being knocked out, players can wait around for five real-world minutes for it to respawn.
How to Mega Evolve Hawlucha in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Mega Hawlucha is one of 26 new Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Unfortunately, however, players won't be able to experience it right away. To get the Hawluchanite needed to Mega Evolve Hawlucha, players will need to progress through the story and complete Main Mission 17. After doing so, they'll need to have Hawlucha hold the Hawluchanite and then press the right analog stick in during battle when the mega evolution meter is full.
