Summary
- Pokemon Legends: Z-A leaks suggest no new Pokemon, focusing on Mega Evolutions, potentially needing DLC.
- Gen 10 is rumored to be set in Greece, and could introduce regional forms or fakes for Hydreigon, inspired by Greek mythology.
- A similar concept could have Hydreigon grow more heads or turn into a plant with multiple flowers for its heads.
There have been many rumors and leaks surrounding Pokemon Legends: Z-A in the past few weeks, including the fact that the game is allegedly not featuring any new critters or the list that surfaced online, including all Pokemon that will get a Mega Evolution. If these leaks are true, then it would be wise for Game Freak to double down on Mega Evolutions or even consider adding DLC to the game after launch, as new creatures are one of the main alluring points of the series. Pokemon Legends: Z-A's leaked Mega Evolutions include 27 entries so far, as Mega Zeraora was the 28th and allegedly scrapped. If a popular Gen 5 Pokemon truly doesn't get a Mega, it would only be fair for Gen 10 to come to its aid.
Based on the trailers and gameplay sections shown of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it seems that the battle royale event at night will be front and center of the experience, so it feels logical for Mega Evolutions to be a core part of the game. 27 new ones may seem like a lot, but if the game truly has no new forms or species, this number may even be on the lower side. Adding more Megas would be an interesting way of dealing with it, but so far, there is no mention of Hydreigon despite its high ranks in polls regarding the most popular Pokemon of all time.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Leak Reveals More Features
A new Pokemon Legends: Z-A leak shared, and it reveals two potential features that players will see in the anticipated Pokemon game.
Pokemon Gen 10 Has The Perfect Myths to Make Amazing Regional Forms or Fakes for Hydreigon
Today, Centro Leaks shared a tweet stating that they can confirm Gen 10, which is rumored to be codenamed as "Gaia," will take place in Greece - specifically, the Cyclades Archipelago. The reason this is good news for Hydreigon fans is that, even if the Gen 5 Pokemon doesn't get a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, at least it would be perfect for a regional form or regional fake in Gen 10 inspired by Greek mythology.
There are many creatures and monsters in Greek mythology that could prove to be cool inspirations for new Pokemon evolutions or forms. For example, Pokemon Gen 10 could add a Cerberus evolution for Houndoom, which would be perfect in terms of both themes and aesthetic. Likewise, Hydreigon would have plenty of hydras to draw inspiration from for a regional form or regional fake line, and that could be the perfect occasion for Gen 10 to do something unique for one of the series' most beloved critters.
Hydreigon, as its name implies, is already inspired by the concept of hydras, but these creatures typically have many more heads than three. With so many myths and legends about hydras tied to Greek culture, Hydreigon could feel right at home. For example, a regional form may have its design modified to fit seven or nine heads instead of three, and possibly change the Pokemon's type combination in the process. Likewise, a regional fake line could be very interesting to see if Hydreigon is turned into a plant, instead, with multiple flowers as its heads.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Iron Jugulis May Be a Bad Omen For Hydreigon in Gen 10
The possibilities are endless, but there is one factor in the equation that may throw a monkey wrench in this concept - Hydreigon recently got a Paradox version in the form of Iron Jugulis. If that is any indication, then there is also the chance that Hydreigon doesn't get some new tools in Gen 10 despite the obvious connection between this Dark/Dragon Pokemon and its source inspiration. However, if Game Freak does add something for it, a regional form or regional fake could even be more interesting to see than a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. This remains speculation for the time being, but it does seem like all the stars have aligned for Hydreigon to shine brighter than ever in Gen 10.
