After they've beaten Absol and learned the secrets of Mega Evolution, Pokemon Legends: Z-A players will be tasked with taking down three more rogue Mega Evolutions. However, they'll be able to choose which order they fight Rogue Mega Slowbro, Camerupt, and Victreebel, and their decision can have a huge impact on how difficult these boss fights are.

The best order for fighting Rogue Mega Slowbro, Camerupt, and Victreebel will depend on the Pokemon that players have at their disposal, their levels, and whether or not they have the mega stones needed to mega evolve them. That last one is particularly important, as trying to take down a rogue mega evolution without a mega evolution of your own can take an awfully long time. As such, players should make sure that they have a mega evolution that can target one of the rogue mega evolutions' weaknesses before engaging it in battle.

  • Mega Slowbro is weak against Bug, Ghost, Grass, Electric, and Dark-type attacks.
  • Mega Camerupt is weak against Ground and Water-type attacks, with a 4x weakness to Water.
  • Mega Victreebel is weak against Flying, Fire, Psychic, and Ice-type attacks.

Be sure to check your Pokemon's moves before fighting a rogue mega evolution to ensure that you have the strongest possible moveset to target their weaknesses. You can change a Pokemon's attacks via the main menu.

The good news is that AZ gives players a mega stone for their Pokemon Legends: Z-A starter Pokemon just before this decision, so if they've already evolved it into its Stage 2 form, players should base their choice around that. Chikorita users should fight Mega Slowbro first, players who chose Tepig should start with Mega Victreebel, and those who picked Totodile as their starter should head straight for Mega Camerupt. Sadly, this isn't really an option if your starter isn't fully evolved yet, although players needn't worry too much if this is the case.

Regardless of their starter choice, players already have Absol and the Absolite needed to mega evolve it following their exploits in Main Mission 9. Mega Absol is a Dark-type Pokemon, meaning it's super effective against Mega Slowbro. After defeating each rogue mega evolution, players will get the mega stone needed to evolve it, which can then make dealing with the other rogue mega evolutions a lot easier. Mega Slowbro's Water-type attacks are super effective against Mega Camerupt, and Mega Camerupt's Fire-type attacks are strong against Mega Victreebel.

Mega Slowbro's Psychic-type attacks are also super effective against Mega Victreebel, and Mega Victreebel's Grass-type attacks are strong against Mega Slowbro, if players want to tackle the three rogue mega evolutions in a different order.

The Best Order to Fight Mega Slowbro, Camerupt, and Victreebel

  1. Use Mega Absol's Dark-type attacks to beat Rogue Mega Slowbro.
  2. Catch an Alpha Slowbro in Wild Zone 11 or catch a Slowpoke in Wild Zone 10 or 11 and evolve it at level 37.
  3. Use Mega Slowbro's Water-type attacks to beat Rogue Mega Camerupt.
  4. Catch an Alpha Camerupt in Wild Zone 8 or catch a Numel in Wild Zone 8 and evolve it at level 33.
  5. Use Mega Camerupt's Fire-type attacks to beat Rogue Mega Victreebel. Alternatively, players can skip step four and use Mega Slowbro to beat Rogue Mega Victreebel, if they like.

If players are defeated during a fight against a rogue mega evolution, they'll be given the option to continue the fight where they left off, meaning it's possible to persevere using brute force. This isn't really recommended, though, as fights against rogue mega evolutions last significantly longer when you're not targeting weakness with a mega evolution of your own.
