Heading into a Wild Zone in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is the player's best option for finding new critters to add to their team or training up their party before night falls and the Z-A Royale's Battle Zone is activated. As a part of Pokemon Legends: Z-A's side content, players will want to catch every mon in a particular Wild Zone to complete Mable's Research tasks and earn the TM rewards offered by the professor. However, this task is easier said than done, especially for Wild Zone 12, which features a Pokemon so frustrating to catch that completing the Zone is all but impossible.
There are a total of 20 Wild Zones in Pokemon Legends: Z-A that progressively become available as players advance through the main story. The final Wild Zone is a post-game area and is unlocked after completing Pokemon Legends: Z-A main mission 38. With Wild Zone 12 being a mid-game area, players trying to complete each Wild Zone before moving on may be perpetually stuck trying to catch this elusive critter.
Delibird Makes Wild Zone 12 a Nightmare to Complete in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Players can find Wild Zone 12 tucked away between buildings in the Bleu District of Lumiose City after completing main mission 15. This Wild Area has been frozen over in an effort to cater to the natural environment of the Ice-Type Pokemon that can be found there. While it may not seem too difficult to catch the wild Pokemon roaming around Wild Area 12, players who spend any amount of time in the Zone will quickly realize how troublesome capturing a Delibird is.
All Pokemon That Can Spawn in Wild Zone 12
- Gogoat
- Vanillite
- Machop
- Machoke
- Delibird
- Snover
- Snorunt
- Bergmite
- Alpha Abomasnow
- Alpha Avalugg
Alongside the Ice types Vanillite, Snover, Snorunt, Bergmite, and Delibird, players can find Machop and Machoke on the court located in Wild Zone 12, and Gogoat spawns on the field. There are also two Alpha Pokemon that spawn in Wild Zone 12: Alpha Abomasnow and Alpha Avalugg, the latter of which spawns down in the water area of the Zone. However, neither of these mons are as difficult to catch as Delibird, which, despite having 3 potential spawn locations, is incredibly difficult to find before it de-spawns.
Why Delibird is Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Most Annoying Critter to Catch
Delibird will likely be noticeable when first entering Wild Zone 12 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, with its red color scheme standing out against the white snow of the area. The problem with catching this critter is that it is very quick to flee, with a wide radius of vision where it can spot the player approaching from almost any angle, even if they are sneaking. Coupled with a remarkably low catch rate, even if the players get the opportunity to chuck a Poke Ball at Delibird, there's a small chance that the critter will actually stay in the ball.
The Best Strategy for Catching Delibird in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
While catching a Delibird in Wild Zone 12 may seem impossible if players run in guns blazing, there are a few ways players can make this hunt a bit easier. The obvious approach is to sneak up on Delibird from behind, since getting a back strike with a Poke Ball drastically increases the catch rate. The problem with this strategy is that Delibird has such a wide field of view that players are better off sitting in a bush or behind an obstacle and waiting for Delibird to get close enough for them to hit it with a Poke Ball.
The Poke Ball of choice for catching Delibird is the Quick Ball, since it has a greatly increased catch rate if used before the Pokemon spots the player. Alternatively, players can try to use a Dusk Ball at night, since it gets an increased catch rate during the nighttime.
Pokeon Legends: Z-A players can also increase their overall catch rate by obtaining the Blue Canari Plush from Racine Construction.
