Pokemon Legends: Z-A already has a broken shiny hunting method and location that players can use to get shiny critters, including Alpha Pokemon, as they please. It's worth noting that there is a general shiny hunting method that works for most places in the game, and that's mostly the same thing as Gen 9, meaning that players need to despawn currently active Pokemon in the overworld and then make them respawn. This will reroll all variables for a given critter in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, including its shiny status.
Since this is still fundamentally random, players may get all kinds of different results, but what matters the most is the location where players use this method. For example, the Pokemon in Wild Zone 2 of Pokemon Legends: Z-A will vary based on whether it's day or night, so the time of day also matters, but the location is what determines which critters will spawn. Despawning and respawning Pokemon quickly will allow players to get shinies faster, but one area in particular is amazing for this method.
How to Pass Time and Make it Dark in Pokemon Legends Z-A
There's an easy way to change the time, but you need to play a few hours of the story first.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Wild Zone 3 is Perfect For Shiny Hunting
Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Wild Zone 3 contains a total of 6 species, with a potential seventh. These are:
- Skiddo (Ground, Southwest area)
- Pancham (Ground, variable location)
- Litleo (Ground, Northwest area)
- Espurr (Ground, Northeast area)
- Flabebe (Ground, middle)
- Pikachu (Ground, Southeast area)
- Litleo (Alpha, building entrance)
- Fletchling (Alpha, building rooftop)
The Pancham, Alpha Litleo, and Alpha Fletchling are not guaranteed spawns, whereas the other types of critters are always present. Alpha Litleo and Alpha Fletchling always appear in the same spot, whereas Pancham's spawn rates and locations may vary.
Considering the general shiny hunting method of despawning and respawning critters on the map, Wild Zone 3 is the perfect place for shiny hunting in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, as it includes a building with an interactable door that takes players either to the rooftop or to the ground level, depending on their position. Doing this will reset all the Pokemon in the area, thus making it possible that they roll as shinies.
What You Should Know About Shiny Hunting in PLZA
It's worth noting that this method works much better on the Nintendo Switch 2, as Pokemon Legends: Z-A's loading screens on the regular Switch take longer, thus slowing the process down exponentially based on the number of attempts. Still, saving in Pokemon Legends: Z-A happens automatically after catching or defeating Pokemon, watching cutscenes, battling trainers, changing locations, and so forth. This is relevant because players will preserve the shiny even if they switch location too quickly, as the game saves them in that spot until defeated or caught.
