Pokemon Legends: Z-A is already slated to receive DLC as part of its post-launch support, but a firm release date for the Mega Dimension expansion has yet to be announced. Although it was controversial when it was first revealed, the Mega Dimension DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A is set to add a handful of missing mons from the Kalos Pokedex, and more new Mega Evolutions beyond Mega Raichu X and Y if leaks are to be believed. This DLC may be closer than players expect, and its release could be tied to Legends: Z-A's online ranked battle seasons.
Recent Pokemon games have included DLC expansions released sometime after their initial launches. Pokemon Sword and Shield were the first to introduce this post-launch approach for the series, releasing the Isle of Armor around 6 months after the base game launched, and the Crown Tundra a few months after that. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet released the Teal Mask nearly a year after the base game, and the Indigo Disk a couple of months after that. While Pokemon Legends: Arceus didn't have a DLC expansion, the fact that Legends: Z-A announced its expansion before launch could mean this timeline will be shorter.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC Could Release with the Start of Season 4
A key part of Pokemon Legends: Z-A is the Z-A Battle Club, which offers players the chance to test their skill in 4-player free-for-all battles using the game's new battle system. Players can also increase their rank in these online battles to earn rewards, including a Mega Stone for each Kalos starter across the first three seasons. Beyond these first three seasons, it's unclear what rewards will be on offer for players competing in these ranked matches.
Ranks in the Z-A Battle Club don't decay, so players can't lose ranks after hitting a certain milestone.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Online Battle Club Offers Mega Stones as Seasonal Rewards

Despite the controversy surrounding locking new Mega Evolutions behind online battles that require players to purchase a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, it's surprisingly easy to reach rank K and unlock Mega Greninja in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. This makes it seem likely that future seasons will include other Mega Stones as rewards for achieving that same rank. Coincidentally, the Mega Dimensions DLC may offer the perfect set of Mega Stones to offer Legends: Z-A players after the Kalos starter stones are distributed.
Mega Dimensions is Leaked to Add the Hoenn Starters
Among the missing returning Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends: Z-A are the Hoenn starter trio: Sceptile, Blaziken, and Swampert. Fans lamenting their absence may be in luck, as the trio has been leaked to be part of the critters joining Legends: Z-A in the Mega Dimension DLC. If this leak is accurate, distributing the Mega Stones for these starters as seasonal rewards for ranked battles seems like a no-brainer after the Kalos starter Mega Stones round out the rewards for the first three seasons.
Pokemon Legends Z-A's DLC Release Date is Most Likely at the End of December 2025
Following this theory, it seems likely that the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A's DLC will coincide with the start of Season 4 of the Z-A Battle Club. Although there are no confirmed dates for Season 2 and Season 3, based on the length of the inaugural season of the game's ranked battles, it's easy to assume that Season 2 will run through November and Season 3 will run through December. As such, Season 4 of Pokemon Legends: Z-A's online ranked battles could start as early as late December, making the release date for the Mega Dimension DLC potentially somewhere around the end of the year or start of next year.
