As the Pokemon Legends: Z-A demo shown at the 2025 Pokemon World Championships continued making the rounds on social media, keen-eyed fans revealed information about the Lumiose City map. Fans claimed that getting around the map in Pokemon Legends: Z-A on foot should not take long, as the distances between some of Lumiose's landmarks were calculated.
Unlike the previous Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which spanned across five parts of the Hisui region, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will take place entirely in Lumiose City, the largest hub in Kalos, and will also mark the return of Mega Evolution as the main battle gimmick. Mega Evolution allows certain Pokemon like Dragonite and Absol to gain a temporary power boost and a new form to match. Compared to previous iterations featured in past Pokemon titles, Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A can now be done more than once per battle, thanks to the game's new real-time battle system.
Mega Dragonite Is Making Its Franchise Debut Ahead of Pokemon Legends: Z-A
While Pokemon Legends: Z-A isn't scheduled to release for another two months, Mega Dragonite is already making its franchise debut next week.
Pokemon: Legends Z-A Map Details Revealed in Demo
As more details about Pokemon: Legends Z-A's demo came to light, some sharp-eyed Pokemon trainers pointed out the scope of Lumiose City's map. On the Pokemon Legends: Z-A subreddit, a Redditor named BeholdAndWonder shared a screenshot from the demo, which was showcased to attendees of the 2025 Pokemon World Championships. The map divides Lumiose City into several sections, with some numbered pentagonal signs and green area-of-effect markers scattered throughout. Gray Poke Ball icons were used to indicate the location of Pokemon Centers. At the center of Lumiose City is the Prism Tower, which serves as the Kalos region's equivalent of the real-world Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.
Some Pokemon fans responded to the map post by stating that the on-foot running time between the edge of Lumiose City and Prism Tower was an estimated 40 seconds. While the map may appear smaller compared to the regions of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, other fans pointed out that Lumiose City's rooftops and the interior of some buildings can also be explored alongside the city's main surface. While trainers can go and catch Pokemon in the Wild Areas of Lumiose during the day, the nighttime hours of Pokemon Legends: Z-A will see some sections become battle-focused mazes where trainers can test their mettle. Only time will tell how many areas of Lumiose City will be accessible between the daytime and nighttime hours.
Though the demo of Pokemon Legends: Z-A is currently exclusive to the 2025 Pokemon World Championships, Pokemon fans attending Gamescom or PAX West will also have a chance to try it. What further details The Pokemon Company will reveal before launch remain to be seen.
