The Quick Claw is one of the most useful Held Items in Pokemon Legends Z-A, since the new rules of combat have added cooldown to movements to replace PP, and this item can trigger a CDR effect on the Pokemon that has it, which increases its utility by the heaps.

In combat, whoever strikes first strikes twice, and Trainers participating in the A-Z Royale will soon learn this the hard way. So, what better way to gain more advantage in Lumiose City's feisty nightlife than by using the Quick Claw to empower your Pokemon. In this guide, players will learn how to obtain and use Quick Claw in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Where To Get Quick Claw in Pokemon Legends Z-A

To get the Quick Claw in Pokemon Legends Z-A, trainers need to complete the introductory Missions and join Team MZ, and once Taunie has taken them on their trip around Lumiose City, they will be able to roam freely around Wild Area 2, which is Vert Plaza, in Vert Sector 2. Just in the intersection between Vert Street and Vert Sector 2, there's a woman with a food stall and a yellow dialogue bubble (players can check the exact location on the map above). Approach and talk to her. She will handle the Quick Claw for players for free, and then will explain its uses vaguely.

The description in the item reads: 'An item to be held by a Pokemon. This light, sharp claw lets the holder occasionally unleash a move faster than it usually would.' But what does this mean?

Prior to Pokemon Legends Z-A, the Quick Claw gave Pokemon holding it priority over rival Pokemon in terms of executing a move. This also granted them Priority when both Pokemon used Priority Moves at the same time. Now, it works differently: as a buff that triggers during combat and grants a brief acceleration effect to the execution of movements. For example, Flamethrower has a 1.6 second execution time, but with the Quick Claw effect, that is reduced to 1.2 seconds. This also means the move will enter cooldown faster and the Pokemon will be able to use it sooner, since cooldown starts when the move is executed.

Essentially, it's the same effect, but applied to the new rules of freedom of movement during combat, which ultimately changes its application a little bit, but it still serves the purpose of granting the Pokemon the first move in the Priority Bracket. It is worth noting that Quick Claw has a probability of around 20% of activating, so it's not the best item for competitive play. However, that changes for PvE battles and Rogue Mega Evolution battles.

Quick Claw only alters speed in the Priority Bracket, and cannot be used to counter moves like Trick Room.

Which Pokemon Should You Equip With the Quick Claw?

As mentioned before, Quick Claw alters the Priority of moves in favor of the Pokemon that holds it, and slightly reduces both execution time and speed of the moves. So, there are a few Pokemon that can benefit from having this Held Item.

Trainers should always equip Held Items on Pokemon that don't have a Mega Evolution, since these will be holding their respective Mega Stones. For example, Espeon, Umbreon, or Sylveon can gain a considerable advantage against certain Mega Evolved Pokemon, by holding an item like Quick Claw, acting first in order, and landing certain moves that can cancel powerful attacks from their foes.

As mentioned before, equipping Quick Claw can grant a certain advantage during Rogue Mega Evolution battles. For Mega Slowbro, equipping a Raichu or Jolteon with Quick Claw grants more chances to counter most of its spammy moves.
