Vanillite is one of the few Ice-type Pokemon in the Pokemon Legends Z-A Pokedex, and surprisingly, it has received a decent movepool renovation, making it quite viable for PvE and PvP battles, if players know how to catch it and train it, that is.
Learn everything about Vanillite, where to find it, and how to evolve it into Vanillish and Vanilluxe in Pokemon Legends Z-A, alongside a careful analysis of its stats, moveset, and recommended EV Training.
Where To Find Vanillite in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Vanillite is a pure Ice-type Pokemon that appears in
Wild Zone 7 and
Wild Zone 12. It's a Diurnal Pokemon, so if players want to catch it, they should look for it during the Day.
Once trainers catch it, they should know that training it won't be easy, since its low HP value turns this Pokemon into a Glass-cannon of sorts (despite its high Sp. Atk). But evolving it into Vanillish and Vanilluxe should increase its stats considerably.
How To Evolve Vanillite into Vanillish & Vanilluxe in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Vanillite evolves into Vanillish when it reaches level 35, and then, into Vanilluxe when it reaches level 47. This might be a bit confusing for trainers since there are a few Pokemon that evolve in this level.
- To evolve Vanillite, players need to open the menu by pressing X.
- Then, in Vanillite's thumbnail menu, they should select 'Evolve.'
- When the animation concludes, Vanillite should have evolved into Vanillish.
- The same process can be repeated once Vanillish reaches level 47.
Moves like Icy Wind and Blizzard (targeted AoE) have been considerably reworked and are practically useless in terms of combat efficiency. The new meta are fixed AoE moves or Physical low cooldown moves, or close-in moves like Brave Bird, Extreme Speed.
Vanilluxe is also a pure Ice-type Pokemon, with a BST (Base Stat Total) of 535, which is not as high as other Ice-type Pokemon like Glalie or Froslass. Sadly, Vanilluxe doesn't mega evolve, but its moveset is still something to look after if trainers are interested in causing some serious STAB damage.
The best natures for Vanilluxe in Pokemon Legends Z-A are Relaxed (+Def - Speed) or Bold (`Def - Attack). Vanilluxe doesn't need Atk, so consider choosing Bold since Speed is still somewhat important even with the new combat system. For EV Spread, use the following: 252 HP/252 Sp. Atk/ 6 Speed or 252 HP/252 Def/6 Sp. Atk.

Its ideal moveset includes: Ice Beam (good range, STAB, decent cooldown, and ex. Time), Mist (protects Vanilluxe from stat-reduction moves), Acid Armor (boosts Defense, and helps deal with Physical attackers), Freeze-Dry (absolutely broken AoE Ice-type move, with an extremely high chance of causing Frozen, plus, it's Super Effective against Water-types).
To use Vanilluxe in the main story, players should know that the highest threat to this Pokemon is close-range attackers (like
Lucario), so use Mist followed by Acid Armor to cover Vanillite and help it use its Ice Beam move.
When enemy Pokemon close in, use Freeze-Dry, which behaves a lot like Earthquake, unleashing an AoE surrounding Vanilluxe and fending off melee attackers.
