Pokemon Legends Z-A has a wide variety of species to catch and train, and Budew is among those that evolve using a special method, so here in this guide, players will learn everything they need to know about this Grass-type Pokemon, how to turn it into Roselia, and how to evolve Roselia into Roserade.

Budew is a shy and tiny baby Pokemon, and getting it won't be easy. It flees at the slightest sight of a trainer, and only spawns in certain special locations during bright days. So, first things first, let's check out where Budew spawns and the best tactic to catch it in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

How to Find & Catch Budew in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Budew is a Grass-type Pokemon that spawns at all times of day, only in certain Wild Zones and special spots in Lumiose. It prefers places where it can bask in the sunlight and be isolated, as it fears humans, so when it spots a trainer approaching, it will instantly flee. Players can find a Budew spawning in the entrance of Wild Zone 2, unlocked after completing Main Mission 5.

If players want more options to Catch Budew (or to Shiny Hunt), they should try in the rooftops of the buildings surrounding Wild Area 2, in the Vert District. Alongside other species like Vivillon, Pidgey, and even the elusive Cleffa.

Evolution in Legends Z-A has changed considerably from previous games, and now players control when and how their Pokemon evolve (the Everstone is not needed anymore).

How to Evolve Budew in Pokemon Legends Z-A

To evolve Budew into Roselia in Pokemon Legends Z-A, players need to max out its friendship and raise a level during the day. If done correctly, the evolution symbol will appear over Budew's thumbnail in the menu.

To max out Budew's friendship level, players need to put it as their active Pokemon in the party, then go to any Café and drink 3 or 4 teas (Roserade Tea is most effective) with this Pokemon as their partner. Once Budew's friendship level is at max, leveling it up once will do the trick, and they will be able to evolve it into Roselia.

Roserade

Once Budew turns to Roselia, players can evolve it into Roserade by using a Shine Stone, bought in the Stone Emporium. Roserade is a nice Grass-type Pokemon, but it is not one of the best Pokemon for combat, since its stats and move pool are not so great, and type compatibility greatly disfavors a single Grass-type.

There are just too many counters for Roserade, like Beedrill (with its Mega Evolution), Pidgeot (ditto), and, of course, all the Fire Mega Evolutions that can totally ruin it in a single move: Mega Charizard X/Y, Mega Camerupt, and Mega Pyroar.

Since players need to complete a lot of Research Challenges for Mable, and one of them includes completing the Pokedex, and catching a certain number of Grass-type species, having Roserade will also help players get one step closer to Ranks 50 and 51, which have the best rewards in the game: A Master Ball and a Shiny Charm.
