Pokemon Legends: Z-A has finally emerged from the shadows to present a first-look at gameplay from the upcoming adventure, and fans believe they’ve spotted a popular detective agency from the past in the new entry. To celebrate Pokemon Day 2025, the Pokemon Presents livestream delivered a boat-load (S.S. Anne to be precise) of treats for trainers, including the addition of Mega Evolutions to Pokemon TCG Pocket, the announcement of the new multiplayer battling game titled Pokemon Champions, and an eyeful of what Pokemon Legends: Z-A has to offer.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is the second title in the Legends series, succeeding 2022’s Pokemon Legends: Arceus. After new footage released during Pokemon Presents, fans began building theories around the new Pokemon Legends: Z-A protagonists. Some rumors conclude the game’s leads are related to Professor Sycamore, including perhaps being his children, or newer versions of the Generation 2 characters, Ethan and Lyra.

Following the release of the latest trailer for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Pokemon fans are demanding a change to rivals before the game launches.

Posted on Reddit by PrimalPokemonPlayer, a side-by-side comparison screenshot was shared on the Pokemon subreddit. The top image showcased a recognizable office from the Z-A's gameplay, and the bottom still featured a character with their back turned standing in X and Y’s detective agency. In addition to Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s surprise reveal of the starter Pokemon, fans were stunned to see the similar-styled room within the gameplay trailer, that may tease the return of Looker’s X and Y detective agency.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Fans May Have Discovered the Return of Looker's Detective Agency

The diamond-shaped floor pattern, the hanging green coat, and even the red drawers are all indicators that Z-A will recreate the detective agency and return Looker to the series. Since Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s sprawling Lumiose City map will be open for exploration, some Redditors believe players will encounter Emma, a major character in X and Y’s post-game side story, running the detective agency instead of Looker, since she’s lived in the city her whole life.

Looker is the mysterious codename for the International Police (or Global Police) officer who was introduced in Pokemon Platinum while investigating Team Galactic. The character returned in several games from the core Pokemon series, including Black and White and Sun and Moon. However, a standout appearance from the officer occurred after becoming Pokemon League Champion in X and Y, when Looker asks for the player’s assistance after setting up his detective agency in an MCU-esque post-game extra. Since Looker’s Detective Agency originates from the Generation 6 game, fans may want to replay Pokemon X and Y in 2025 before Pokemon Legends: Z-A releases later this year.
