Pokemon Legends Z-A has over 200 species to pick from, without counting over 30 Mega Evolutions that have destroyed the balance of power in both PvE and PvP battles.
For those looking for the ideal Endgame Teams, this guide offers some insight on the top Tier Meta Picks, which include powerful Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, and new contenders like Mega Excadrill, and Mega Feraligatr. Take a look at this selection of optimizedd teams.

For those who picked
Chikorita as their starter, there's good news and bad news: The good news is that its Mega Evolution is one of the most balanced of all starter Megas, gaining superb SpAtk and ranking among the top 20 Special Attackers in the game. The bad news, is the time that it takes to train it and acquire its Mega Evolution.
Luckily, there are a few Pokemon players can pick during their journey that will turn into one of the most balanced teams they can find in Legends Z-A. Ampharos (Mega Ampharos) is back to form with considerable firepower. Gallade offers the best of Physical Attackers, with lots of speed and the Close Combat/Psycho Cut combo that can destroy everything, and a whopping 165 Atk BS when Mega Evolving.
Gyarados is both bulky, extremely hard to counter, and reliable. Charizard is a good classic Mon with access to two Mega Evolutions (both working extremely well in a Type Coverage Team). Finally, Excadrill and its Mega Evolution hit the top of the chart with incredible stats and the best moveset of both Ground and Steel-types.

Physical Attackers are absolutely broken in Pokemon Legends Z-A, and the best Pokemon players can get early are surprisingly quite affordable.
Weedle(which evolves into Beedrill/Mega Beedrill),
Pidgey(Mega Pidgeot is back to the top of the rankings), and
Riolu, found around the Rooftops of Vert Plaza.
If players have picked Totodile as their starter, they're up for a treat: Mega Feraligatr is part of the Top 3 Hard Hitter s alongside Mega Lucario and Mega Pidgeot, and is dominating the PvP Rankings. Players couldn't ask for a better team to focus on the Physical meta, which includes really fast attacks like Dragon Rush, Extreme Speed, Lunge, and Brave Bird.
On the other hand, Garchomp combines the best of Physical and Special damage with powerful Ground-type moves like Earth Power and Earthquake, which are also quite broken in this game.

If players have already finished the game, they should know that Eternal Flower Floette is now available for all players. Picking this alongside Emboar, Alolan Raichu, Aerodactyl, Salamence, and Greninja is a killer combo.
The first Pokemon in the field should always be Alolan Raichu, which has access to Light Screen and Reflect, both global buff moves that will increase the Defense and SpDef for all team members. Complete its moveset with Play Rough (or Psychic) and Volt Tackle.
Mega Aerodactyl is also going strong, with a decent combo of Attack and Speed, and moves like Ice Fang, Rock Blast, and Wing Attack that offer decent coverage and low cooldowns. Finally, players would want a pivot that can jump in and counter Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y and Mega Tyranitar, so Greninja is the best choice.
