Summary
- The first Pokemon Legends: Z-A trailer revealed that the game takes place in Lumiose City.
- There have been no news updates since then.
- However, more news on Pokemon Legends: Z-A is apparently coming soon, according to a recent tease by a reputable leaker.
It seems as though news on Pokemon Legends: Z-A could be coming sooner rather than later. Nintendo announced Pokemon Legends: Z-A last February, confirming some exciting details about the upcoming Switch game in the process.
While the Pokemon Legends: Z-A trailer didn't show any gameplay, it was still chock-full of information on what fans could expect from the game. As revealed by the trailer, Pokemon Legends: Z-A takes place in Lumiose City, meaning players are going back to the Kalos region for the first time since 2013's Pokemon X and Y. The trailer also revealed various Pokemon that will be featured in the game, plus confirmed the return of Mega Evolution, which remains one of the most popular battle gimmicks in series history. On top of all this, the first Pokemon Legends: Z-A trailer revealed that the game is looking to launch at some point in 2025.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Could Feature Improved Riding Mechanics
A patent from The Pokemon Company suggests that Pokemon Legends: Z-A will feature its own ride Pokemon complete with new mechanics and animations.
Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokemon Company have gone radio silent about Pokemon Legends: Z-A since the first trailer dropped. However, there is hope that more news about the game could come at some point in the near future. Known Pokemon leaker Riddler Khu hinted as much on Twitter, using the codename for Legends: Z-A, "ikkaku," and saying "soon." While it's possible that the leaker is hinting at something else, mainly fans have assumed that this means a Pokemon Legends: Z-A news update is dropping at some point in the near future.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A News Could Be on the Horizon
Riddler Khu's tweet doesn't really give fans a concrete idea of when exactly they can expect to get an update on Pokemon Legends: Z-A beyond "soon." However, it was teased by an official Pokemon social media account that Pokemon news could be coming on October 4. It was implied that said news would be related to Detective Pikachu, though, so fans shouldn't hold their breath that Legends: Z-A news will be coming on that day.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be launching at an interesting time for Nintendo. As acknowledged by the company itself, Nintendo has a next-generation console in development. Rumor has it that a reveal for the console could be happening as early as this month for an early 2025 release. If that's the case, it would make some sense to release a native version of Pokemon Legends: Z-A on the platform. For now, though, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is only confirmed to be in development for the original Switch.

CATCH, BATTLE, AND MEGA-EVOLVE—ALL IN REAL TIME!
Step onto the battlefield and command your Pokémon directly—there are no turns! For the first time in the Pokémon RPG series, Trainers and their Pokémon can both move around in real-time battles, and your Pokémon will unleash their moves when you tell them to. Strategically swapping out your Pokémon and accounting for each move’s timing and area of effect will greatly help you in this new style of battle.
HARNESS THE POWER OF MEGA EVOLUTION
When Trainers have a strong bond with their Pokémon, a Key Stone worn by the Trainer resonates with a Mega Stone held by their Pokémon, allowing Mega Evolution to take place.
ROGUE MEGA EVOLUTION
Rampaging Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon are threatening Lumiose City. These Pokémon are extra tough to beat, but if you do manage to defeat them, you'll receive valuable Mega Stones as a reward.
RISE THROUGH THE RANKS OF THE Z-A ROYALE
You’re invited to join the Z-A Royale, a competition for Pokémon Trainers to test their skills and determine who’s strongest.
Each night, a battle zone for the competition will appear. Prepare yourself by spending the day in wild zones, catching and training Pokémon, then venture into the battle zone and take on other Trainers.
Be strategic and complete bonus card challenges as you battle to speed up your climb from Rank Z to Rank A. Can you climb the ranks and reach the top?
