Game Freak and Nintendo released Pokemon Legends: Arceus over a week ago and Pokemon fans are already celebrating the latest title through fan art, cosplays, and other incredible creations. One such fan recently designed several Poke Balls based on the old-fashioned tools used by Pokemon trainers in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
Reddit user JoeHeroOfArdania recently shared their version of Pokemon Legends: Arceus' Poke Balls, sharing five different types of balls in total. The standard Poke Ball from Pokemon Legends: Arceus is featured alongside JoeHeroOfArdania's physical forms of the Heavy Ball, Luxury Ball, Premier Ball, and a unique invention that combines pink and green. The Pokemon fan has created two different types of Poke Ball replicas, with one containing various dies for tabletop gaming and another holding Nintendo Switch game cartridges.
Although the normal version of JoeHeroOfArdania's Poke Balls is meant to contain dies for games such as Dungeons and Dragons or Warhammer, the artist has confirmed that their Poke Balls can be easily converted into game cases made for Pokemon fans. JoeHeroOfArdania has stated that they're selling these Pokemon Legends: Arceus Poke Balls for $50 each but hasn't confirmed whether they have an Etsy or other type of digital storefront. It's currently unclear how many Poke Ball replicas JoeHeroOfArdania intends to make, but there are several Pokemon fans already sending in requests.
The typical dice Poke Ball from JoeHeroOfArdania will be able to hold a mix of seven dies, while the Nintendo Switch game cartridge case can pack up to sixteen games. Because there are only seven total Pokemon Nintendo Switch games, this leaves Pokemon fans who are interested in the game cartridge ball plenty of space to store other games. Pokemon TCG fans will also be able to use the JoeHeroOfArdania Poke Balls if they choose to use dice rather than a coin for deciding certain attacks and their effects.
Other than the basic Poke Ball, the balls JoeHeroOfArdania's recreations are based on each serve their own purpose. The Heavy Ball is meant to be thrown at unsuspecting Pokemon at short distances, the Luxury Ball historically allows players to form a deeper connection with the captured Pokemon, and the Premier Ball is typically a commemorative item. JoeHeroOfArdania's pink and green ball doesn't seem to be affiliated with any of the balls featured in any Pokemon titles, but it may be a proof of concept for fans interested in customizing the appearance of a Pokemon Legends: Arceus Poke Ball.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is available now for Nintendo Switch.
