With Pokemon games no longer being released on the 3DS, The Pokemon Company published ILCA's Pokemon HOME, which acts as a cloud service/storage device for certain Pokemon console games and Pokemon GO. Pokemon HOME received a 2.0 update on May 18, 2022, which made it compatible with Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and Pokemon Legends: Arceus. While Pokemon HOME is free, players will need to subscribe to the Premium Plan if they want to have access to all of HOME's features.
Players will need to link a Nintendo Account to Pokemon HOME in order to use it. If players are only using HOME to juggle Pokemon between games, then they won't have to worry too much about subscribing. With the Premium Plan, however, players will be able to have more storage in Pokemon HOME and access to all of its features.
Carrying More Pokemon in Pokemon HOME
A regular Pokemon HOME account can store up to 30 Pokemon and only has one Basic Box. Furthermore, players won't be able to place more than three Pokemon in the Wonder Box, which is used to trade Pokemon worldwide. Despite this, all Pokemon PC Boxes will be visible and accessible with the game (ex: Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl) players are trying to transfer to or from in Pokemon HOME.
The Premium Plan allows players to deposit up to 6,000 Pokemon. There are three different payment options for this Premium Plan:
- 1 month ($2.99)
- 3 months ($4.99)
- 12 months ($15.99)
As of now, there isn't a "permanent purchase" option for Pokemon HOME, much like there wasn't one for Pokemon Bank. Like other subscription services, players will lose access to HOME's additional features once their subscription expires.
Here's a comparison of Pokemon HOME with and without the Premium Plan:

* The Judge Function will display a Pokemon's strength if players press the Y-button when accessing a Pokemon's Summary in Pokemon HOME. This is different from displaying a Pokemon's stats, as pressing the Y-button will allow players to see the rating of their Pokemon's stats (i.e: Very good, Decent, Fantastic, etc).
Should players decide they want the features in the Premium Plan, they can subscribe by going into Pokemon HOME and clicking on Nintendo eShop.
Pokemon HOME is available for download on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
