Trainer battles are at the heart of most Pokemon games, even those outside the mainline series, like Pokemon GO. Trainers who want to test their mettle can do so on the Battle League, where they can go head-to-head with other similarly-ranked players in battles using a roster of three of their best Pokemon. It has three leagues that rotate each season, with the most challenging one being the Master League, as it has no Combat Points (CP) limit. The Pokemon GO World of Wonders season’s Master League is right around the corner, and there are various rewards and updates that players to expect.
Pokemon GO’s World of Wonders is one of the biggest seasons of this year, as it coincides with the 2024 Pokemon GO Fest. It also dropped some great Pokemon from Scarlet and Violet and some new Shadow Pokemon. Players can get S&V’s Charcadet and its succeeding evolutions through Eggs, while players can encounter Shadow Raikou, Entei, and Suicune through one to five-star Shadow Raids. This season, which started March 1, 2024, and will go all the way to June 1, 2024, also comes with various updates to the GO Battle League.
Pokemon GO World of Wonders Master League Schedule and Premier Cup
Players can participate in Pokemon GO World of Wonders Master League matches during these dates:
- March 16 to 30
- April 13 to May 4
- May 11 to May 18
- May 25 to June 1
Trainers get four times the stardust for every win when participating in most Master League schedules. There will also be a Master Premier Cup from April 27 to May 4. This is a limited-time event with no CP limit, but it prevents players from using Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, as well as Ultra Beasts.
Some of the top-tier Pokemon for World of Wonders’ Master League include Hisuian Avalugg, Origin Forme Dialga and Palkia, Solageo, Landorus, Kyogre, Complete Forme Zygarde, Mewtwo, and Lugia. It’s important to note that cramming legendaries into one roster isn’t enough, as trainers need to consider type match-ups, switches, and attacks. This ensures that each Pocket Monster covers the others’ weaknesses and that players always have an offensive and defensive answer to their Master League rivals’ critters. Those who want to find success in this league must also get Pokemon with the best IV and grind their trainer level to improve their monsters’ CP continuously.
Pokemon GO World of Wonders Battle League Rewards and Attack Updates
Players can get guaranteed encounters with these Pokemon once this season when they reach a certain rank, regardless of what league they participate in:
- 1: Primeape
- 6: Poliwrath
- Ace: Deino
- Veteran: Goomy
- Expert: Jangmo-o
- Legend: Pikachu Libre
Fortunate trainers may see shiny Goomy, Pikachu Libre, and Deino during their rank up encounters. Active Bosses in five-star raids can occasionally appear during standard encounters when players reach Rank 20 and above. Those who like customizing their avatars are also in for a treat, as they can acquire a Hala-style shirt, shoes, pants, and even a pose when they reach the Ace to Legend ranks.
Attack Changes in Pokemon GO Season 18 Battle League
This season came with a few nerfs and buffs to certain attacks, so players need to plan their moves accordingly if they want to win their Master League matches.
- Brick Break: This now has increased energy cost but it also guarantees to lower the enemy Pokemon’s defense by one stage
- Cross Chop and Aqua Tail: These moves now deal 55 power (previously 50 power) during trainer battles
- Shadow Bone: The trainer battle version of this ability improved from 75 power to 80 power
- Water Pulse: This skill’s energy cost decreased and its power increased from 70 to 80 for trainer battles
This season also came with some new fast attacks: Sand Attack, Psywave, and Metal Sound. The first deals 2 power during trainer battles, while the latter ones deal 3 power, respectively. Judging by their stats, they are unfortunately underwhelming compared to other fast attacks for PVP purposes at the moment.
