The partnership between Pokemon GO and Walmart should make it easier for players to perform those interactions, as it will put PokeStops and Gyms at every Walmart Supercenter in the United States starting on October 20, 2024. As per the announcement of the partnership, 90 percent of Americans live within 10 miles of a Walmart store, which means that these new PokeStops and Gyms will serve many players. Additionally, Walmart stores will begin stocking physical Pokemon GO gift cards as part of the partnership.

Pokemon GO is Getting Gift Cards

The Pokemon GO gift cards that will be available through Walmart are a brand-new way for players to purchase PokeCoins. These gift cards have the following four values, and fans may notice that they offer a slightly better dollar-to-PokeCoin conversion rate than the in-game shop:

  • $10: 1,250 PokeCoins
  • $25: 3,300 PokeCoins
  • $50: 7,000 PokeCoins
  • $100: 15,000 PokeCoins

While these Pokemon GO gift cards may not appear in every Walmart store simultaneously, it is indicated that they will start being available for purchase as soon as October 20. Additionally, the gift cards are to be available through Walmart.com and the Walmart app, and Pokemon fans who would like to buy some, but cannot find them in their local stores, may want to turn to those online sources.

Finally, it has been revealed that a "limited number" of physical gift cards will be made available to all Community Ambassadors in the United States for distribution to the players in their communities. For the uninitiated, Pokemon GO Community Ambassadors are volunteers who run community events with the support of the game's developer, Niantic. These leaders occasionally receive item codes and other pieces of "swag" to hand out to local players, and it is thus not surprising to see that they will be getting some gift cards to disperse.
