While the Lovely Wishes Timed Research may be the centerpiece of Pokemon GO's Valentine's Day event, there are also some event-exclusive Field Research tasks available. As per usual, these tasks are obtained by spinning PokeStops, and each one awards a Pokemon encounter upon completion. This guide is here to provide more details on those encounters, and it will help players decide which of the Valentine's Day event Field Research tasks in Pokemon GO are worth pursuing.

To note, several of the Pokemon that can be encountered through the completion of PoGO's Valentine's Day event Field Research tasks award bonus Stardust when caught. Specifically, Combee grants 750 Stardust per catch, Morelull grants 500 Stardust per catch, and Audino grants a whooping 2,100 Stardust per catch. Players are thus advised to always complete the "spin 10 PokeStops or Gyms" and "open 5 Gifts" tasks, and it is wise to leave the awarded Pokemon uncaught until an event with a Stardust multiplier is underway.

For the sake of full clarity, a few words about leaving Field Research encounters unclaimed may be pertinent. Quite simply, it is possible to have up to 100 encounters "stacked" within the "Claim Reward" button in the Field section, though there is no in-game indication of how many encounters are available to be claimed. To perform this "stacking," Pokemon GO players should simply complete a Field Research task, initiate its Pokemon encounter, and then run away by pressing the icon near the top-left corner of the screen.

With respect to when players should complete the Audino, Combee, and Morelull encounters that they stack, the Woobat Spotlight Hour is the next event with a Stardust multiplier. That event will occur on Tuesday, February 14 from 6 to 7pm local time, and a double Catch Stardust bonus will be in effect. This means that every Audino that is caught during the event will award 4,200 Stardust, and players can push those gains even higher by using a Star Piece in PoGO.
