A Pokemon GO player has achieved the incredibly rare feat of getting all 28 Unown forms, and it took them seven years to pull it off. While many might consider it as something that is only significant for collectors, it is crucial to note that there is a medal associated with catching all Unowns in Pokemon GO.
Pokemon GO players are always looking to catch some rare Pokemon to flaunt in their collection. While certain Pokemon such as shundos offer a lot of utility on top of bragging rights, others are merely for collection purposes. Amid that, a player has unlocked an extremely difficult-to-get medal in Pokemon GO.
In a new post on the Pokemon GO subreddit user JohnnyDarko666 showcases their incredibly rare Pokemon GO achievement which took them seven years to achieve. JohnnyDarko666 caught a question mark Unown, which marked the completion of their Unown collection. This also meant that they got the Platinum Unown medal, an achievement not a lot of players in the world have. The Bronze and Silver variants of the medal are not that hard to get, as they unlock after acquiring 3 and 10 Unowns, respectively. However, the Gold and Platinum versions require a whooping 26 and 28 Unown forms, something which is extremely difficult to achieve.
Unown is considered as one of the rarest Pokemon in Pokemon GO. While it is somewhat easier to catch the Pokemon during events, catching them in the wild is a different ball game altogether. The fact that it has a total of 28 different forms is something that makes things even trickier, as there is a possibility that players might end up encountering the ones that they already have in their collection.

Hunting Unown during events is probably the best bet, considering that their spawn in the wild is so rare that some Pokemon GO players aren't aware Unown can be encountered outside events. In fact, JohnnyDarko666 managed to complete the collection during the Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Sendai event. The players also highlighted some tricks that they acquired over their seven-year hunt for Unowns.
As per JohnnyDarko666, Unowns usually spawn more during the initial couple of minutes of an event start. Additionally, they also mentioned that they tried to attend as many in-person events as they could to further improve their odds. That being said, considering it took them seven years to get them all, it is by no means easy to complete this collection, even if players regularly take part in events.
