Pokemon GO's Ultra League is one of its most coveted battle leagues. The PVP battle mode picks random players and sets them up for a battle. But every league has its own set of rules, and players must abide by them while building their Pokemon roster.
Like the Master League and Great League, Ultra League has no limitations regarding the Pokemon type one might use. The only thing to consider is that only Pocket Monsters with a max Pokemon GO CP of 2500 are allowed. Hence, players need a set of monsters that do not exceed the CP limit yet perform exceptionally well. Among various choices, these monsters reign as some of the best.
1 Registeel
The Legendary Steel-type, Registeel performs brilliantly in Ultra League, mainly since it has access to one of the best Fast Moves in Pokemon GO. However, there are other things right for Registeel; its extreme resistance can withstand attacks from the most formidable monsters.
The Legendary's stat spread comprises 143 Attack, 285 Defense, and 190 Stamina Power. Registeel's best moveset includes Lock-On and Hyper Beam. Resistant to all attacks except for Fighting, Fire, and Ground-type, making it fit for any team for the Ultra League.
2 Cresselia
Cresselia, found in the Sinnoh Region, is a Legendary Psychic-type and an excellent choice for the Ultra League. It boasts a Pokemon GO stat spread of 152 Attack, 258 Defense, and 260 Stamina Power.
Cresselia's fast move combines Pshcyo Cut and Confusion, one with high energy generation and the other inflicting maximum STAB damage. It is resistant to Fighting and Psychic-type attacks while showing vulnerability to Bug, Ghost, and Dark-type moves. In the league, one can go for its best move Future Sight.
3 Cobalion
The legendary dual Steel and Fighting-type Cobalion has an unparalleled steel body. Cobalion can resist a long list of Bugs, Poison, Rock, Dark, Dragon, Grass, Ice, Normal, and Steel-type attacks. At the same time, it shows weakness against Ground, Fire, and Fighting-type moves in Pokemon GO.
The monster's stat spread comprises 192 Attack, 229 Defense, and 209 Stamina Power. Cobalion recently got access to its Fast Move Double Kick, making it more formidable in the league. Players can opt for its best moves, Double Kick and Sacred Sword, with a DPS of 13.03.
4 Pidgeot
Pidgeot is a Normal and Flying-type Pokemon well suited for anybody's team in the Ultra League. The bird has a max Pokemon GO CP of 2407, just under the CP for the league. Its stat spread consists of 166 Attack, 154 Defense, and 195 Stamina Power.
The best moveset for Pidgeot combines Wing Attack and Brave Bird with an 11.11 DPS. Wing Attack can be used quickly due to its quick energy generation, which is crucial in PVP battles. Players can go with Brave Bird for its charged moves, which inflicts the max STAB damage of 156.
5 Swampert
Regarding PVP battles, a Pokemon with minimum weakness is the way to go. It is why Swampert has become a preferred choice for many. The monster is a dual Water and Ground-type Pokemon, making it weak to Grass-type attacks and resistant to Electric, Fire, Poison, Rock, and Steel-type moves.
The monster boasts a Pokemon GO stat spread of 208 Attack, 175 Defense, and 225 Stamina Power. Its best moves in a battle are Mud Shot and Hydro Canon. Players can go for Mud Shot for its high energy generation, and for the Charge Move, they can opt for Earthquake.
6 Giratina (Altered)

Giratina is vulnerable against Dark, Dragon, Ghost, Fairy, and Ice-type attacks while resistant to Fighting, Bug, Normal, Electric, Fire, Poison, Grass, and Water-type moves. Its best Pokemon GO moves are Shadow Claw and Shadow Force. While Shadow Claw has fast energy gain, Shadow Force boasts maximum STAB damage.
7 Regirock
Regirock is a legendary Rock-type and a formidable force despite being below par with its sibling Registeel. The monster boasts an impressive stat of 179 Attacks, 309 Defense, and 190 Stamina Power, making it a must-have.
The Pokemon is vulnerable against Fighting, Grass, Ground, Steel, and Water-type attacks and can resist Flying, Fire, Normal, and Poison-type moves. Rock Throw and Stone Edge combine as its best moveset in Pokemon GO.
8 Tapu Fini
Tapu Fini is a legendary Water and Fairy-type known as a Guardian Deity. While the Pokemon GO legendary is vulnerable to Electric, Poison, and Grass-type, it can resist attacks of Dragon, Bug, Dark, Fighting, Fire, and Ice-type attribute.
Tapu Fini's stat spread comprises 189 Attack, 254 Defense, and 172 Stamina Power. Players can opt for Water Gun and Surf for Tapu Fini in the Ultra League. The Fast Move Water Gun has maximum STAB potential, and using Surf as a Charge Move inflicts even more damage.

With its new moveset, the dual Ice and Water-type Walrein is a must-have for the Ultra League. Walrein has a stat spread of 182 Attacks,176 Defense, and 242 Stamina Power with its best moveset, Waterfall and Blizzard.
The dual-type is vulnerable against Electric, Grass, Fighting, and Rock-type attacks while resisting Ice and Water-type moves in Pokemon GO. Players can also opt for its Charged Move, Icicle Spear, accessed through Powder Snow.
10 Gliscor
Gliscor is a handy dual Ground and Flying-type in PvP and PvE battles. Its dual-type nature makes it resistant to most attacks except Ice and Water-type. The monster has a stat spread comprising 185 Attacks, 222 Defense, and 181 Stamina Power.
While in a battle, Pokemon GO players can use its moveset Wing Attack and Earthquake. Wing Attack inflicts maximum STAB, and Earthquake comes with impressive damage. All of it makes the monster an intelligent choice in the Ultra League.
