Pokemon GO's Litwick Community Day will occur on Saturday, October 15 from 2pm to 5pm local time, and there is a Special Research Story at its center. This Special Research Story is called Field Notes: Trick of the Light, and it is composed of four steps-worth of tasks and rewards. A complete list of those tasks and rewards can be found in this guide, which will help players determine if they wish to engage with Pokemon GO's Trick of the Light Special Research.
To note, fans that decide that they would like to pursue PoGO's Litwick Community Day Special Research must purchase an Event Ticket from the in-game Shop. As is always the case with Event Tickets that unlock Community Day Special Research Stories, this one is $1. While this will undoubtedly be good value from some players, as the rewards that can be earned through Trick of the Light cost more than $1 when purchased separately, that may not be the case for those that already have large stockpiles of these items.

Step 1
- Power up Pokemon 10 Times (15x Poke Ball)
- Catch 15 Litwick (Litwick Encounter)
- Make 5 Nice Throws (20x Litwick Candy)
Step 1 Completion Rewards: 2,000 Stardust, Litwick Encounter, 1x Incense
Step 2
- Catch 15 Litwick (30x Litwick Candy)
- Transfer 10 Pokemon (Lampent Encounter)
- Evolve 3 Litwick (10x Pinap Berry)
Step 2 Completion Rewards: 1,500 XP, Litwick Encounter, 1x Lure Module
Step 3
- Make 3 Great Curveball Throws (50x Litwick Candy)
- Evolve 1 Lampent (1x Lucky Egg)
- Transfer 10 Pokemon (15x Great Ball)
Step 3 Completion Rewards: 2,500 XP, 1x Rocket Radar, 15x Ultra Ball
Step 4
- Claim Reward (2x Silver Pinap Berry)
- Claim Reward (Litwick Encounter)

Step 4 Completion Rewards: 3,000 XP, Chandelure Encounter, 3x Rare Candy
As players that have completed Community Day Special Research Stories in the past are sure to notice, the rewards that can be earned through Field Notes: Trick of the Light are standard. In fact, they are almost identical to the rewards that were granted during Pokemon GO's Roggenrola Community Day, which occurred last month. The only differences are that Trick of the Light awards an Incense and Lure Module where the Roggenrola Special Research awarded two Star Pieces.
One final thing to mention is that there is also a free Timed Research that can be completed during the Litwick Community Day. This Timed Research gives players the opportunity to earn five Unova Stones in PoGO, which are required to evolve a Lampent into a Chandelure. That will make it possible for all fans to complete Step 3 of Field Notes: Trick of the Light, even if they do not have any Unova Stones at the beginning of the event.
