Pokemon is the highest-grossing media franchise in the world, and its success is due, in part, to how the brand can be enjoyed in many ways. Pokemon GO provides some of those opportunities, as it allows fans to wander around and discover new critters. The mobile AR game is specifically notable for how it turns everyday walks and vacations into adventures, and there are new Pokemon GO events happening at every turn.
What works in Pokemon GO's favor is that the game is, currently, the best way for fans to experience everything the franchise has to offer, as the mainline games have constantly shifted. For example, PoGO has been the only place fans can experience Mega Evolution for the last five years, though that mechanic is set to appear in the forthcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Dynamax is the most recent instance of Pokemon GO's adoption of mainline gimmicks that have been left behind, but its time in the spotlight is about to end with GO Fest's finale. A recent leak seems to suggest that Scarlet and Violet's Terastral phenomenon may be next.
Pokemon GO Might Add Terastallization In Upcoming Seasons
A well-known group of Pokemon fans, The Pokemod Group, has made a name for itself by datamining Pokemon GO updates and uncovering creatures and features before their release. The group's recent efforts suggest that some important Pokemon from Scarlet and Violet are coming to Pokemon GO, and while the findings don't go into detail as to how these creatures will be added, fans have plenty to be excited about. Here is a brief summary of the creatures The Pokemod Group has leaked:
- Paradox Pokemon like Walking Wake and Iron Leaves
- Evolutions Dipplin, Hydrapple and Archaludon
- The Loyal Three from The Teal Mask
- Terapagos, Pecharunt, and Ogerpon
If Pokemon GO Doesn't Add Terastallization Soon, It Will Eventually
Out of all the pocket monsters in the recent leak, Terapagos may be the most interesting. The fact that Pokemon GO could be adding the Tera Pokemon in the near future seems to suggest that Terastallization is also on the horizon, as Terapagos would remain in its weakest form without it. Its strongest form, Stellar Form, could be added as part of an event that is similar to the forthcoming Max Finale, where Terastallization could be used to give Terapagos its unique typing.
Terastallization wasn't specifically mentioned in The Pokemod Group's leak, and it's hard to say exactly how it will be implemented when it comes to PoGO. However, there's a strong argument for Terastallization to work in a way that is similar to Mega Evolution, a mechanic that centers around collecting Mega Energy.
While it is reasonable to expect all the critters from the leak to eventually appear in Pokemon GO, they may not be added during the next season or even in the next couple of months. Pokemon GO's Remote Trading feature leaked months ago, and there's still no telling when, or if, this feature is actually coming. Additionally, the Pokemon from the leak could have been added to the game files for all kinds of developmental reasons, be it planning ahead for future events or just making sure the Paldea Pokedex is complete in Pokemon GO's backend.
Paradox Pokemon were teased during Pokemon GO's 9th anniversary celebrations, so fans who are interested in adding Ogerpon, Pecharunt, or Terapagos to their collection should keep an eye out on the official channels for more information. In a best-case scenario, it'll only be a matter of time before Terapagos, and a number of future Terastal Pokemon, have their chance to literally shine.
