A Pokemon GO fan is getting bombarded with one particular Shiny Rock-type Pokemon from Generation 1 of the series. Other Pokemon GO players can't believe their luck, though whether this fan is extremely lucky or unlucky is largely up to debate at this point.
Pokemon GO, like the mainline Pokemon titles, offers players the opportunity to track down and capture Shiny Pokemon. Having Shiny Pokemon is typically a bragging right for trainers, especially if they're lucky enough to find a Shundo or a Shiny variant of a Pokemon that's natively difficult to find and catch. However, this particular fan wishes they could stop finding these Shinies in particular.
Pokemon GO Players Are Confused After the Latest Update
Pokemon GO players are confused about an icon that has appeared in the game, following the most recent update released by developer Niantic.
Pokemon GO player 0CROWNED shared their collection of Shiny Onix with fellow players and lamented how they can't seem to stop finding them. Although the odds of finding a Shiny Onix are boosted, the player notes that they have had next to no luck finding any other Pokemon with permanently boosted Shiny rates. The screenshot shows that they have 16 Onix total, with all of the visible 12 being Shiny. The player jokingly blames Onix for their "curse" in not finding the Shiny Pokemon they're really after.
Pokemon GO Player Laments Their Luck
Fellow Pokemon GO players have been amused by this alleged misfortune, with several being openly envious of the player's situation. A few fans talked about wanting one of the many Shiny Onix for themselves, to which 0CROWNED said that if remote trading in Pokemon GO were possible, they would gladly trade away the Onix for other Pokemon they're looking for. Others mused about how this poor fan's luck might get even worse, with one joking that Niantic could announce a community day with an increased spawn rate for Onix in September. However, others pointed out that they should simply stop clicking on Onix spawns, as Shinies only reveal themselves once a player clicks and enters an encounter with a wild Pokemon.
Finding any Shiny Pokemon at all is a matter of luck, with some unlucky fans still struggling to find any even after years of playing the game. Thankfully for those fans, Shiny Pokemon offer no advantages in battle. Still, seeing fans acquire numerous Shinies or even fill out a Pokedex with Shiny Pokemon can be frustrating for those players. Increasing the chances of catching Shinies any further would diminish their rarity and perceived value, so it's unlikely that the game will see any tremendous changes in this regard in the forseeable future.
