Pokemon GO reveals the details for its upcoming Scattered to the Wind event, including wild encounters, bonuses, shiny Pokemon, and more. The hit mobile game Pokemon GO continues to keep its players engaged by adding new content at a consistent clip, both through limited-time events, and new seasons.
For longtime players, some of the most exciting events are when Niantic adds new creatures to Pokemon GO. With nearly 30 years of games and media available, Niantic still has a long way to go before the entire current PokeDex is represented in the popular mobile game. With new events planned in February, players will be able to get their hands on not only newly added Pokemon like Dhelmise, but new shiny variants of previously added creatures as well.

As part of Pokemon GO's February Events, Scattered to the Wind is kicking off on February 18 and bringing with it a handful of bonuses for players to take advantage of. During the event, players will earn double XP for spinning a PokeStop, or 5 times that for interacting with one for the first time. Players can also open up to 40 gifts per day, new event-themed research tasks will be available, and a new Collection Challenge can be completed to earn a badge, XP, Stardust, and a battle with Scyther.

However, the event also adds new Shiny Pokemon into the game for the first time, specifically for Scatterbug, Spewpa, and Vivillon. As the blog post reveals, players can simply pin postcards from other trainers to earn new encounters with Scatterbug and an increased chance to find a shiny version. Not only that, Pokemon GO will increase the odds of encountering a Shiny Pidgey, while Caterpie, Spearow, Wurmple, and Starly will all appear more frequently in the wild, with additional chances for a shiny one to pop up.
Prior to Scattered to the Wind, players will have another chance to score some easy shinies during Pokemon GO's February 2025 Community Day event. This month puts Karrablast and Shelmet front and center, so players can build their candy, try to find high stat versions, and maybe a shiny or two. Not only that, players who evolve the featured Pokemon before February 16 will unlock an exclusive ability for them as well.
