Summary
- Game crashes during remote raid left player furious; community sympathetic with shared frustrating experiences.
- Pokemon GO fans frustrated with monetization changes.
- Player unable to claim reward after game crash during remote raid.
A Pokemon GO player who won a remote raid should be celebrating, but is instead furious after the game crashed and prevented them from gaining their hard-earned reward. The Pokemon GO community is largely sympathetic for the player, with a number of players sharing their own upsetting stories about the game mechanic and general stability of the title.
Pokemon GO has had something of a rough patch in recent times. While the game is still popular and played by many people, fans have felt frustrated by the title's monetization. Additionally, the major changes made in the Pokemon GO's avatar update has only worsened the game's reputation with fans. While there are certainly players who still enjoy the game, posts like these seem to be quite frequent these days.
New Pokemon GO Event All About Flying-Types
Next week, Pokemon GO gets a new Research Day event that offers plenty of exciting content centered around Flying-type Pokemon.
Player Finneagan shared their experience and frustration with fellow fans after winning a Pokemon GO remote raid. According to Finneagan, after they won the raid, the game crashed. When they started the game back up, they found a banner in their journal indicating that they had won, and highlighting the items they earned for their reward. However, the encounter with the Pokemon they fought was inaccessible. When clicking on the banner, it would take them to the Pokemon Gym, but the opportunity to try and catch the Pokemon was no longer an option.
Pokemon GO Players' Reported Experience with Remote Raid Crashes
Shortly after their post, Finneagan added that the banner had disappeared, taking away any remaining hope of trying to access the Pokemon. Unfortunately, they're far from the only one this or similar experiences have happened to. Other players have flooded the comments with their own difficulties in remote raids, with several suggesting that Finneagan reach out to Niantic support to try and get a refund on their remote raid pass. However, players seem to have mixed results in their attempts to do this previously, with some managing to get the refund and others being simply shut down with no reward or compensation.
Considering that a remote raid pass can cost close to $2, this would be a frustrating thing to go through, especially for those who have had it happen multiple times. The time spent on the raid, combined with limit on how many Pokemon GO remote raids can be participated in per day means this player lost out on their time, money, and a potentially powerful addition to their Pokemon team.
Game stability, especially when money is involved, is paramount for any game developer to focus on. With so many different phones and operating systems accessing the game, some number of crashes may be unavoidable. In those instances, though, fans rely upon Niantic to be responsive and fair. It remains to be seen if Finneagan is one of the lucky ones and gets the refund for their remote raid pass.
