Pokemon GO developer Niantic has addressed a frustrating issue trainers had during the recent Catch Mastery event, and players may be receiving compensation soon. Catch Mastery is a recurring event in Pokemon GO and the latest edition ran for 10 hours on March 16, offering encounters with Archen, Omanyte, and Kabuto. Trainers were also given the chance to catch shiny variants of these featured pocket monsters.

Posted on Twitter, the Niantic Support page highlighted the issue players experienced during the Catch Mastery event, where increased chances of encountering Shiny Omanyte and Shiny Kabuto did not come to fruition, similar to another Pokemon GO player’s glitch that buried them under Shiny Primal Groudon spawns. Niantic confirmed the team had resolved the issue and assured the community it would “follow-up soon” with any trainers affected by the technical mishap.

Niantic Suggests Compensation Will Be Given to Pokemon GO Players After Catch Mastery Event Glitch

This isn’t the first time the developer has offered recoupment, as Niantic provided compensation to trainers who experienced technical issues during Pokemon Go Fest 2024, preventing players from using Remote Raid Passes. Unfortunately, Niantic’s resolve was not welcomed with open arms by the community, as several players were fed up with the game’s constant bugs and crashes. One player noted that the issue wasn’t fixed at the time, explaining that they had been playing for several hours on Catch Mastery day after the fix was deployed and still didn’t encounter any shinies.

If March wasn’t already packed full of pocket monster encounters, Pokemon GO players should also circle the game’s new April event in their calendars. The Stunning Styles event will take place between April 3 and April 7, featuring the in-game debut of Paldean Tauros variants. The event features rare shiny Pokemon opportunities, double XP, Special Research tasks, and a Special Research story starring Marshadow.
