Summary

  • Pokemon GO partners with McDonald's in India for sponsored PokeStops and Gyms, offering special rewards for customers.
  • Global Pokemon GO events like World of Wonders season and the upcoming Taken Over event give players new content this month.
  • Even without the McDonald's promotion, players outside India can look forward to Pokemon GO Fest 2024 and more events.

Niantic has announced a new partnership between hit augmented reality mobile game Pokemon GO and fast-food chain McDonald's, but it's only happening in India. Pokemon GO has formed all kinds of partnerships over the years, encouraging fans of the game to stop at specific restaurants and businesses in exchange for special rewards.

Notably, Pokemon GO and McDonald's have teamed up multiple times. Last year, Pokemon GO launched a new McDonald's partnership in Canada that gave customers the chance to secure sponsored Field Research tasks that could be completed in exchange for Stardust and Rare Candy. Now a similar promotion is happening, though this time it's specific to McDonald's restaurants in India.

Pokemon GO's Weather Week event brings plenty to take part in, such as Raids, Wild Encounters, Research, and Collection Challenges.

As announced by Niantic, Pokemon GO is teaming up with McDonald's India. Sponsored PokeStops and Gyms will be added to McDonald's restaurants in West and South India as part of this new promotion. There will also be "special offers" for customers to enjoy, though specifics on what exactly those entail were not shared. A start date for this new promotion has yet to be revealed, but it's likely that it will be similar to the previous Pokemon GO + McDonald's collaborations that have taken place over the years.

Pokemon GO Events Are Happening Globally

While Pokemon GO fans who don't live in West or South India may be disappointed that this latest announcement doesn't impact them, it's otherwise an incredibly busy time for the game. Pokemon GO's World of Wonders season is in full swing, giving fans of the game new Special Research tasks to complete, fresh Pokemon to catch, and the returning Ultra Beasts to deal with. Plus, there's even more content on the way in the very near future.

The Verdant Wonders event lasts from March 21 to March 25, and it gives Pokemon GO players the chance to purchase a $7.99 ticket to unlock exclusive Special Research for Zarude. Then, from March 27 to March 31, Pokemon GO players can participate in the Taken Over event, which will give them the chance to save Shadow Groudon from Team GO Rocket, plus fight Shadow Mewtwo in Raids.

So, even without the McDonald's promotion, Pokemon GO players outside India still have a ton of content to look forward to this month. Fans can expect plenty more events as World of Wonders marches on, and they can look forward to Pokemon GO Fest 2024, taking place later this summer as part of the game's next season of content.
