Pokemon GO has announced that Regigigas will star in its upcoming Shadow Raid Day on May 17. This is the second major Shadow-themed event revealed for May 2025 in Pokemon GO.
Shadow Raids were added to Pokemon GO in 2023, letting players catch Legendary creatures of this kind. Because these events aren't held as often as Community Days or Mega Raids, Shadow Raids are some of the most anticipated by fans every season. The last event of this type was in January with Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day, which is one of the best Fire-types in Pokemon GO. Now, the game has revealed that another very powerful monster is starring in the next Shadow Raid Day.

Regigigas will be featured in Pokemon GO's next Shadow Raid Day on Saturday, May 17, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. Players will be granted special bonuses like five additional free Raid Passes from Gyms and an increased chance to encounter shiny Regigigas. Moreover, the event will let players use Remote Raid Passes to participate in Shadow Raids, a bonus that fans have long been asking to return. Regigigas is one of the toughest Normal-types in the game, and its Shadow counterpart in Pokemon GO can be even stronger.

Players who purchase the $5 ticket for Shadow Regigigas Raid Day can obtain up to 14 Raid Passes from Gyms and have a higher chance of getting Candy XL from Raids. It is worth noting that the ticket can only be purchased through the in-game store until May 17 at 4:00 PM, and its bonuses will only last for the event's three hours as well. Players can also opt to buy the event's Ultra Ticket Box from the Pokemon GO Web Store, which includes all the benefits mentioned above, plus an extra Premium Battle Pass for the same cost.
Unlike the Shadow Ho-Oh event, the upcoming Regigigas Shadow Raid day doesn't have a featured Charged Attack to teach the monster, which might be discouraging for some players. However, defeating Regigigas in Pokemon GO is no easy feat, as it has very few weaknesses. Its Shadow version's enhanced stats can be useful for fans looking for a formidable Normal-type addition to their team.
Aside from Shadow Regigigas Raid Day, another Team Rocket-themed event is scheduled for May. Pokemon GO confirmed a Shadow Dialga challenge from May 14 to May 18. Players can also look forward to Pokemon GO's next Community Day on May 11, with Pawmi as the protagonist.
