As a live-service game, Pokemon GO frequently adds new limited-time events, opportunities, and mechanics for players to make the most of. These new inclusions are usually added at the beginning of each new season, with certain functions and encounters recurring through specialized events or research rewards.
The Max Out season is no different from this, bringing a brand new feature for all players to participate in, known as Max Battles. If you find yourself curious about this new gameplay feature and want to know where you can find Max Battles and how they function, then all relevant information has been included in the guide below.

What Are Max Battles in Pokemon GO?
In Pokemon GO, Max Battles are a new type of battle that operates similarly to Raids. However, instead of featuring Raid Bosses, Max Battles feature Dynamax Pokemon, as seen in the Galar Region. In addition to this, Max Battles are not located at Gyms or Pokestops such as other in-game objectives but appear at new 'Power Spots'.
Power Spots are a new kind of interactive objective that will appear on the map as players wander around and visit different locations during their adventures. Power Spots do not have set spawn points, such as Raids, and will rotate locations on a player's local map every so often, so Trainers must keep a close eye on things when seeking them out.
Power Spots provide players with Max Particles, which operate similarly to Mega Energy, and will sometimes even feature a Max battle opportunity. After defeating a Dynamax Pokemon through Power Spots, Trainers will have the opportunity to capture the monster in which they have encountered. These Pokemon can then Dynamax in battle with the use of Max Particles, and eligible Pokemon species will eventually be able to Gigantamax. Max Battles are the only way to obtain Dynamax Pokemon, other than potentially trading with another player, so familiarizing yourself with Power Spots will certainly come in handy.
Here is a complete list of every Dynamax Pokemon that has been added to the game, so far:
- Dynamax Charmander
- Dynamax Bulbasaur
- Dynamax Squirtle
- Dynamax Wooloo
- Dynamax Skwovet
