2025 has been a busy year for Niantic and Scopely’s Pokemon GO. For one, Taiwan and Los Angeles hosted the Pokemon GO Tour: Unova, wherein players could battle Black and White Kyurem for the first time and encounter Shiny Meloetta both at in-person events and on Pokemon GO itself. Scopely additionally held the Pokemon GO Fest 2025 in Osaka, Japan, New Jersey, USA, and Paris, France throughout mid-June. However, events and festivities surrounding Pokemon GO are unlikely to slow down in the rest of 2025 and early 2026 as Scopely will probably announce new events focusing on features debuting in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Mega Meganium Gains One Big Buff at a Hefty Cost
Pokemon Legends: Z-A's leaked Mega Meganium is going to be much better than the original, with one hard-to-ignore caveat.
Confirmed and Rumored Features of Pokemon Legends: Z-A
On October 16, Pokemon fans worldwide will be able to return to the France-inspired region of Kalos for the first time in mainline Pokemon games since 2013’s Pokemon X and Y in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Set primarily in the urban redeveloped Lumiose City following the end of Pokemon X and Y’s story, Z-A will have players embody a young tourist who will encounter characters new and old, such as the 3,000-year-old AZ and fellow young trainers Urbain and Taunie. During the tourist’s time at Lumiose, they’ll be able to choose a starter Pokemon in the form of Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile and later take part in the competitive Z-A Royale, battling other trainers for the chance to be granted one wish.
With players returning to Kalos for the first time in 12 years, Game Freak made sure to include the return of Pokemon X and Y’s breakout feature in Pokemon Legends: Z-A: Mega Evolution. Players will once again be able to obtain a Mega Ring, Key Stone, and various Mega Stones to allow a select number of Pokemon to go beyond the limits of standard Evolution and Mega Evolve into temporary, powerful forms.
Game Freak has already shown off many preexisting Mega Evolutions returning in Z-A, such as Mega Ampharos and Mega Gardevoir, but rumors have persisted claiming that Pokemon Legends: Z-A will debut 27 brand-new Mega Evolutions. These rumored Mega Evolutions include:
- Mega Clefable
- Mega Starmie
- Mega Victreebell
- Mega Dragonite
- Mega Meganium
- Mega Feraligatr
- Mega Skarmory
- Mega Froslass
- Mega Emboar
- Mega Scolipede
- Mega Excadrill
- Mega Eelektross
- Mega Scrafty
- Mega Chandelure
- Mega Chesnaught
- Mega Delphox
- Mega Greninja
- Mega Pyroar
- Mega Malamar
- Mega Barbaracle
- Mega Dragalge
- Mega Hawlucha
- Mega Eternal Flower Floette
- Mega Zygarde
- Mega Drampa
- Mega Falinks
Predicting Pokemon GO’s Inevitable Inclusion of Z-A Features
Niantic has already implemented Mega Evolution into Pokemon GO since 2020, so it’s likely that Scopely will add new Mega Evolutions to the mobile game if the rumored new forms turn out to be true. Not every new Mega Evolution may debut in Pokemon GO at once as Scopely is still slowly adding Pokemon from across the franchise into the augmented reality mobile game. For example, despite first appearing in 2015, Pokemon GO had only recently introduced Pokemon X and Y’s Mythical Steam Pokemon Volcanion into its Pokedex this summer season.
Based on this track record, Scopely may slowly debut the new Mega Evolutions into Pokemon GO, possibly releasing Mega Meganium, Mega Feraligatr, Mega Emboar, Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja in late 2025 or early 2026.
Debuting Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s expected new Mega Evolutions in late 2025 could entice Pokemon GO players to try out Z-A, but there are other features from the latest mainline Pokemon game that Scopely could implement. Aside from the new Mega Evolutions, the most obvious feature from Z-A to include in Pokemon GO would be the Eternal Flower Floette. Standard Floettes and their various flower forms are already in Pokemon GO but not AZ’s unusual Eternal Flower Floette partner. With this Fairy-type Pokemon rumored to be usable and to receive a Mega Evolution in Z-A, Scopely could make a Pokemon GO event focusing on this Floette’s debut in spring 2026 to coincide with blossoming flowers.
