How to Get Shiny Burmy, Wormadam & Mothim in Pokemon GO
In Pokemon GO, both Burmy and its evolved forms, Wormadam and Mothim, have shiny variants included in the game. As standard wild encounters, these Pokemon tend to have an approximate shiny spawn rate of 1 in 500, which was determined in the past by investigation of player data by The Silph Road, during their partnership with Niantic.
In Pokemon GO, Burmy is a Bug-Type Pokemon that can be acquired through wild encounters or during certain Field Research Tasks. Mothim and Wormadam can be acquired by evolving Burmy and will evolve into different forms, depending on the gender and cloak of the Burmy you capture - as listed below:

- All male Burmy will evolve into Mothim.
- Female Burmy Plant Cloak will evolve into Wormadam Plant Cloak

While the chances of obtaining a shiny Burmy on your average day of gameplay are fairly low, certain events prove to be a solid opportunity to either get lucky regarding the base shiny rates or give you a better chance at meeting them by lowering the odds of shiny encounters.
One of these most notable events is the April 2024 Bug Out event, which will not only boost the wild encounters of various Bug-Type Pokémon but also offer increased shiny rates for all three Burmy Cloak variants. During this event, Burmy will be obtainable through Field Research Tasks, with more favorable odds when it comes to encountering a shiny variant.
Because of this, Bug Out 2024 is a great opportunity to test your luck across a five-day window and try succeeding in a shiny Burmy hunt. This event will run between April 12, 10 AM local time, and April 17, 8 PM local time, so be sure to keep this information in mind if you plan on participating.
