How to Get Shiny Bounsweet, Shiny Steenee, & Shiny Tsareena in Pokemon GO
In Pokemon GO, there is a Bounsweet Community Day event taking place from 2 PM - 5 PM, local time, on May 19, 2024. During this event, the amount of wild Bounsweet that appear in the wild will be boosted, and following the conclusion of the main event, there will be additional Steenee Raids available for players to join at the Four Star tier with the use of Raid Passes. The Steenee bonus Raids will run between 5 PM and 10 PM, local time.
The Bounsweet Community Day is also the debut of shiny Bounsweet, shiny Steenee, and shiny Tsareena in Pokemon GO, so plenty of players will be seeking to add these rare variants to their collection moving forward. This is currently the best way to obtain a shiny within this evolution line, as Community Day events significantly boost shiny odds for the featured Pokemon, meaning Trainers will have the best chance of obtaining a shiny Bounsweet or Steenee, and then evolving them further into shiny Tsareena if they wish.
Bounsweet and the rest of its evolution line may also be available in shiny form following this event if they are available for you to encounter in the wild. However, any encounter that takes place after the 2024 Bounsweet Community Day event will have much higher shiny odds, with an approximate 1 in 500 chance, compared to the approximate 1 in 25 odds of obtaining this same Pokemon during the Community Day event.
The average 1 in 500 shiny rates for normal wild encounters have been determined in the past through the collection and examination of player data by The Silph Co, who were working with Pokemon GO developer Niantic at the time.
In addition to the Bounsweet Community Day event offering an increased rate for these Pokemon, there is also a double Catch Candy bonus during the main 3 PM - 5 PM event, which will enable you to stock up on Candies and evolve Bounsweet or Steenee into Tsareena. Evolution appears to be the only known reliable method for obtaining shiny Tsareena at this stage, so if you plan to do so, you will need to ensure you stock up on the required Candies.
Lastly, to further boost your odds of encountering a shiny Bounsweet or Steenee, you should attempt to make the most of Lures and Incense, as both of these items will increase the amount of Pokemon to appear in the wild. When there is an increased spawn rate bonus in play, such as the Bounsweet Community Day, then this may further increase the amount of Bounsweet you encounter, giving you even more chances to hit the lucky shiny odds.
