Pokemon GO Adds Detective Hat Pikachu

Not too long ago, the video game developer Niantic decided to celebrate of the forthcoming release of the feature length film Detective Pikachu, by having Pokemon GO hold a new event that adds Shiny Aipom, new raid bosses, apparel, and more. In addition to these wares, the studio has now officially announced that it has added a Pikachu that players can acquire, which sees the Electric-type wearing a detective hat.

Pokemon GO's Detective Pikachu event is running through Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 1:00 PM Pacific time to Friday May 17, 2019 at 1:00 PM Pacific time, so players should be able to catch their very own detective hat Pikachu in the wild during these periods. This can be done by utilizing the photobombing system that players currently use to get Smeargle in Pokemon GO.

How to Get Pokemon GO's Detective Hat Pikachu

In order to trigger a photobomb in Pokemon GO, one can do so by taking pictures of any Pokemon they have in their collection. So, acquiring a detective hat Pikachu involves going into the Pokemon list, choosing any Pokemon they like, and selecting the camera icon. Find a place to drop the critter before starting to take pictures. After taking however many photos one desires. Check the pictures at the end of the session, and detective hat Pikachu should show up in a photo, and will then appear on the map for players to catch.

For those unaware, detective hat Pikachu isn't the only version of the Electric-type wearing a hat in Pokemon GO, as there have also been Santa hat Pikachu, witch hat Pikachu, Ash hat Pikachu, birthday hat Pikachu, and more. While the others have made repeat appearances to celebrate different dates on the calendar, there's no telling at the moment if detective hat Pikachu will ever make its return to Pokemon GO.  So, players would do well to catch it while they can during the game's special Detective Pikachu event.

All things considered, it's safe to presume plenty of would-be Trainers will be catching detective hat Pikachu in Pokemon GO as soon as they get the chance to do so.
