Rotom is one of the most popular Pokemon in Pokemon GO, owing to the fact that how difficult it is to get hands on the Pokemon.
The Electric/Ghost-type Pokemon from Generation 4, which is well known for its various goofy forms, has only been available in special events in Pokemon GO. While it has featured in various Snapshot Photobombs in the past, the probability of it spawning has been extremely low. Now, with the debut of the Road To Sinnoh event, players have another great chance to get their hands on a Rotom. What is notable about this event is that it also marks the debut of Shiny Rotom in Pokemon GO.
Pokemon GO: How to Get Shiny Pachirisu
Players are wondering how they can get their hands on the adorable Electric-type from the Sinnoh region.
Pokemon GO: How to Get Shiny Rotom
Rotom's shiny variant features an orange and red color palette instead of the regular blue and orange. While the change in its body is not that noticeable, the electricity around it undergoes some significant change. Additionally, players can simply know if a Rotom is shiny by simply looking for the shiny icon beside its CP. Here is how players can catch Rotom in the game.
Via Ghost in the Machine Special Research
Rotom is available as part of the Road To Sinnoh, special research "Ghost in the Machine." This special research is a bit different than the other ones, considering the fact that players will need to redeem a code to unlock it. Precisely, players will need to use the code 0HY0UF0UNDM3 in the Pokemon GO redemption site to be able to get the special research. Here are the tasks and rewards of the special research.
- Catch 30 Pokemon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region - Rotom Candy ×10, 479 Stardust, 479 XP, Rotom encounter
For players wondering why the task awards with a really odd number, 479, in terms of Stardust and XP, well it has to do with Rotom. Rotom's Pokedex entry is number 479, so the developers are paying some extra tribute to it by awarding the same amount of XP and Stardust. Coming to catching a shiny variant of Rotom in the game, as the rates aren't boosted.
The fact that this is a one-off encounter makes it even more tricky, as if players don't get the Pokemon, they will not have any other attempt to look for a shiny Rotom. Just like the other research tasks, the rewards can only be obtained once, so unless players have multiple accounts, it might not be that easy to get your hands on a shiny Rotom. Last but not least, it should be noted that this is the only way to catch Rotom in the game, and it is not available in the wild.
