Niantic is soon to be launching the Pokemon Go July Community Day event for 2020, with a host of new rewards to chase. The event starts at 11 am BST on July 19th, and trainers can expect to catch Gastly and its shiny forms, as well as complete a Special Research story.
The Community Day event will last for 6 hours instead of the usual 3, as well as having an increased spawn rate for Gastly. In addition to these bonuses, players can pay $1 USD to play the Special Research Task, "The Great Gastly," which grants an abundance of items and {okemon encounters. Thankfully, the team at PokeMiners has found the steps to complete the quest, as well as the rewards.

What the last stage requires is still unknown, but the rewards given for this Research Task are quite generous. Not only do players get multiple Gastly encounters and the matching candy, but they also receive the final evolution of Gastly, Gengar, for their collection. This Gengar will learn the Pokemon Go exclusive move, Shadow Punch, so there is extra incentive to complete the quest. On top of all of these elements, Incense will last for 3 hours instead of 30 minutes, increasing players' chances of finding the Gastly they need for the quest.
While all of these bonuses are great, Niantic has warned that tickets for 'The Great Gastly' are non-refundable, so plan accordingly. The team at Niantic has also continued its COVID-19 arrangements, removing requirements for walking long distances to complete steps. Make sure to log in to Pokemon Go and catch some Gastly before the event ends! Happy hunting.
