Pokemon GO Fest 2020 sold well over a million tickets and was a popular and exciting first all-remote attempt at the mobile AR game's annual event. Many players were able to work through the ticketed Special Research while catching special spawns, shiny Pokemon, and battling against exciting Raid Bosses. That said, the event had enough technical problems that it quickly announced a makeup event before the first day had even ended.

Most of the technical issues during GO Fest 2020 occurred during the Friendship habitat, when players were tasked with sending a large number of Gifts to unlock one of the Ultra Bonus Rewards. The massive influx of social interaction must have caused some server strain, because any interactions involving the Friends tab quickly became impossible for many players. Along with those problems, the Pokemon GO Remote Raid system seemed to be experiencing more bugs and latency than usual, which led to a lot of failed Raid attempts from users who were trying to catch all of the special 5-star bosses. Not to worry though, there will be another chance to make things right starting on August 16.

The important thing to note here is that this makeup event is not a full do-over for GO Fest 2020. Only a small handful of the habitats and bonuses will be returning and the event is scheduled for three hours, rather than two full days. The ideal is to re-offer the portion of the event when the most problems were occurring (basically the hours surrounding that first Friendship quest appearance). With that in mind, here is everything players need to know to get the most out of the GO Fest makeup event.

That should be everything players need to know to take full advantage of the upcoming makeup event. Although it would be nice to get a full second go at all two day's of GO Fest, this limited do-over is still exciting and the free box with additional Remote Raid Passes is a nice touch that will make it too tempting to log in for a few hours during the event, even for players who didn't miss anything exciting during this window of time.

As trainers continue working through these amazing events, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
