Pokemon GO fans are asking Niantic to add a helpful item to the mobile monster-catching game, one that could provide a significant boost to players looking for Gigantamax Pokemon. The beloved monster-catching mobile game from Niantic has featured a wide variety of unique mechanics for its in-game creatures, mirroring plenty of the gimmicks found in the main-series games. The addition of Pokemon's sixth generation to Pokemon GO brought with it the introduction of Mega Pokemon, while Pokemon GO's recent focus on Galar added Dynamax Pokemon to the game. However, one particular Pokemon mechanic has proven quite elusive.

Gigantamax Pokemon were first introduced to Pokemon GO late last year, featuring some of the imposing boss Pokemon first appearing in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Players can only find Gigantamax variants of Pokemon through six-star Raid Battles within Pokemon GO, with the Gigantamax mechanic being exclusive to the game's "Max Battle" Raids. Pokemon GO currently features thirteen different Gigantamax Pokemon within its roster, including Gigantamax versions of both the Kanto and Galar Starters. Now, fans are asking Pokemon GO to make acquiring Gigantamax Pokemon a bit easier.

Despite Gigantamax being present in Pokemon GO for nearly a year, many Gigantamax forms are still unavailable in the Pokemon mobile game.

A post by Reddit user kiriito is proposing that Niantic should add a helpful new item for acquiring Gigantamax Pokemon in Pokemon GO. The post suggests that Niantic should introduce an item allowing trainers to convert their already-captured Dynamax Pokemon within Pokemon GO into their Gigantamax variants. The user specifically references one of their own Pokemon, with a shiny Toxtricity with nearly perfect stats that they would still feel inclined to sub for the Gigantamax variant. Other fans also suggested Niantic could add a similar item, potentially using the pre-existing Max Mushrooms, to give the ability to Dynamax to non-Dynamax Pokemon.

Pokemon GO Fans Want Niantic to Add Gigantamax Item

Replies to the post saw fans quickly pointing out an item with similar utility that already exists within the main-series Pokemon games. Pokemon Sword and Shield's "Isle of Armor" expansion introduced Max Soup to the game, allowing players to upgrade their Pokemon to their Gigantamax versions. While many fans suggested that Niantic could implement a similar idea, others warned about the developer likely putting a premium price tag on the ability to upgrade a Pokemon to its Gigantamax variant.

The suggestion for improving Gigantamax Pokemon comes as Niantic could potentially be gearing up to introduce another major Pokemon gimmick. Recent leaks have suggested that, following the conclusion of Max Finale, Niantic is planning to add several ninth-generation Pokemon to Pokemon GO in the near future. The introduction of Pokemon like Ogerpon and Terapagos could potentially suggest that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Terastal mechanic may soon be coming to Pokemon GO. Niantic and Pokemon GO look to have lots of exciting content on the way throughout the rest of 2025.
