Pokemon GO player Adorable_Fuel_9478 took to the title's subreddit to complain about the current Max Monday event and its Lead-Up Timed Research. At the moment in the game, Pokemon GO is highlighting each of the three legendary birds in Max Battles at Power Spots. It's a good opportunity to fight and capture the Pokemon, adding it to the roster of battle Pokemon that players can then engage in even more Max Battles with. However, there's a problem. Max Battles require spending Max Particles, and so did the Lead-Up Timed Research for Dynamax Articuno, as it tasked players with upgrading Max Moves 3 times, using up particles in the process. After leveling up Max Moves to work on the research, the player realized that they no longer had enough to participate in the actual Max Battle, with the two sharing an expiration date.
Pokemon GO Players Resent Max Particle Limits
The main problem here is that the number of Max Particles a player can earn per day is limited, leaving them with no other alternative than spending real world money to buy more in the Pokemon GO shop. While Dynamax Articuno still has a chance of appearing at Power Spots for the remainder of the week, it's no longer guaranteed, and this may also make it more difficult to find partners to battle in the 5-star Max Battle with. Players who don't want - or can't - spend real-world cash may find themselves trapped between completing the Timed Research or participating in the actual single-day Max Battle.
While having to manage one's Max Particles to access everything would be frustrating enough on its own, the main issue players take with it is that the game feels like it's pushing players into spending real money. Many players have become more frustrated with the microtransaction system in Pokemon GO.
