Pokemon GO has announced the debut of Nickit and Thievul for the game's upcoming Deep Depths event. On March 4, Pokemon GO kicked off its 18th season, Might and Mastery.

An exciting chapter has begun for Pokemon GO as the game recently launched its Might and Mastery season, which will run until June 3. Developers have confirmed some important events happening during the season, including the debut of more Dynamax Legendaries in Pokemon GO like Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. More Pokemon are also expected to be added along with some Gigantamax debuts. Now, Niantic has confirmed the arrival of another Gen 8 monster in Pokemon GO.

Pokemon GO has announced its upcoming Deep Depths event​​​​​​, which will feature the debut of Nickit and its evolution Thievul. The event will begin on March 19 and last until March 24. During this period, Nickit can appear in the wild or be hatched from 7 km eggs while Thievul will require 50 Nickit candy to evolve. However, shiny Nickit won't be added to the game yet. On the other hand, the event will give players an increased chance of encountering and hatching shiny Clauncher. Egg hatch distance will also be reduced to half during the time period. The event will launch soon after Kubfu's debut in Pokemon GO, another highly-anticipated Gen 8 creature.

Pokemon GO Will Debut Nickit and Thievul in Deep Depths event

Aside from Nickit's release, the Deep Depths event will feature a free Timed Research. The new research will grant important rewards like Kubfu candy, event-themed Pokemon encounters, and more. In addition, players can buy a Paid Timed Research for $2 USD, which will guarantee encounters with Clauncher and Nickit, as well as two super incubators. Nickit is a popular fox Pokemon from Galar, and Niantic had already teased its Pokemon GO debut in the Might and Mastery trailer. Fortunately for Nickit fans, Pokemon GO recently increased its storage limit, so players can now collect more copies of their favorite Pokemon.

Pokemon GO wrapped up its Dual Destiny season with the Pokemon GO Tour: Unova weekend. The event involved the long-awaited debut of Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. However, Pokemon GO fans criticized the Kyurem Research tasks as they seemingly were not free-to-play-friendly enough. Many players also found the Legendary Kanto birds Dynamax raids to be unbalanced in difficulty. Hopefully, the game's newest season will address these concerns, and raid events will go more smoothly.
