Pokemon GO has plenty of different events to enjoy throughout each season, bringing various bonuses, Field Research Tasks, and increased spawn rates for featured Pokemon.
Among the recurring events in Pokemon GO, Spotlight Hour is a one-hour mini-event in which one or more featured Pokemon will be selected, receiving an increased spawn rate. The April 16 Spotlight Hour features Caterpie, Weedle, and Wurmple, as well as a timed bonus, so knowing all the details can help you prepare in advance and make the most out of this event.

All of the information that Pokemon GO players will need to obtain shiny Caterpie, shiny Metapod, and shiny Butterfree is detailed in this guide.
Caterpie, Weedle & Wurmple Spotlight Hour: Bonuses & Shiny Rates, Explained
During Pokemon GO's April 16 Spotlight Hour, Caterpie, Weedle, and Wurmple make up the three lucky contenders. These three Pokemon will all have their wild encounters boosted with a spawn rate increase from 6 PM local time to 7 PM local time.
This event provides a brilliant opportunity for trainers to fill in gaps in their Pokedex, stock up on Candies, and even potentially try their hand at a shiny hunt, as all three Pokemon have shiny variants live in the game. While the Spotlight Hour event doesn't boost shiny rates for these Pokemon on a base level, it does provide more frequent spawns, which gives you more opportunities to beat the regular shiny odds for wild encounters.
Approximate shiny odds for wild encounters have been discovered to have an average of about 1 in 500. These odds were determined by The Silph Road through the collection and examination of player data during their partnership with Niantic.
Aside from the featured Pokemon gaining spawn increases during Spotlight Hour, this event also features a different special bonus for Trainers to take advantage of. The event bonus for the Caterpie, Weedle, and Wurmple Spotlight Hour is double catch Stardust, meaning that for every Pokemon captured during this one hour, you will receive twice as much Stardust that you can use to further progress any worthy specimen you capture.
With not just one but three different Pokemon gaining increased spawn rates, you should have no problem with being able to farm these Pokemon through capture and maximize your benefit from the double catch Stardust bonus.
If you wish to generate the maximum level of wild Pokemon spawned, it may also be a good idea to stock up on a few Lures or Incenses, as both items can further boost the amount of wild Pokemon spawned over a certain period.
