With the fourth generation of Pokemon being remembered in Pokemon GO's Sinnoh Throwback Challenge Event, ghost Pokemon are one of the types that need to be caught for one of the challenges. There aren't too many Sinnoh ghost Pokemon that can simply be found in the wild, but they are out there.

Ghost Pokemon are the Pokemon that are the source of many of Pokemon's darkest Pokedex entries, subject of creepy internet stories and rumors, and linked to many of the Pokemon games' scariest events. While nothing too scary pertaining to them has happened in Pokemon GO, going out hunting for them can sometimes feel like real ghost hunting.

Unlike other Pokemon types, ghost-type Pokemon don't have a specific terrain or location that they have more common spawn rates in. Instead, they have more common spawn rates after the sun sets. Players will have to search at night to more easily find one of these spectral Pokemon.

However, for players participating in the Sinnoh Throwback Challenge Event, there's really only one ghost-type Pokemon that will commonly appear and that is the infamous child-stealing Ghost Pokemon, Drifloon. This cute little purple balloon is also a flying type, so it's possible to still encounter it during the daytime.

It is also still possible to catch ghost-type Pokemon from raids and from battling Team Rocket grunts at Pokestops. Ghost-types can also be found and encountered by completing normal field research tasks.

For players who able and willing to hunt for ghost-types at night, the earliest time is 8 PM and the latest is 7 AM. Meanwhile, the absolute best time is 2 AM. It's not exactly the witching hour, but it's still very close. Players hunting at this time should do so safely and avoid entering dangerous areas or trespassing.

Completing the ghost-type Pokemon task in Pokemon GO's Sinnoh Throwback Challenge Event will net players 500 Stardust. Completing all of the available tasks will give players an encounter with the Legendary Pokemon, Cresselia and a chance to catch her. Players have only until next week to complete these tasks, so they should try to finish all the tasks as soon as possible.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
