The Gen 8 pocket monster is particularly popular among Pokemon fans as its final evolution, Corviknight, has a Gigantamax form in the mainline series. In late May, near the end of the Might and Mastery season, Pokemon GO added Dynamax Rookidee for Max Monday, challenging players to obtain the Flying-type. Now, the game is planning another major event featuring the fan-favorite bird Pokemon.

Pokemon GO has announced that Rookidee will star in the August 2025 Community Day, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 30 at 2:00 PM local time. The event will allow players to evolve their Rookidee into a Corviknight that knows the Charged Attack Air Cutter. The reveal comes after Pokemon GO let players vote for their preferred Pokemon for the Community Day event through an official poll on June 7. Fans had 24 hours to cast their vote, and Rookidee came out on top with a crushing 77% of votes, winning over Frillish, Wimpod, and Lechonk.

Before the poll started, Pokemon GO had announced Sky Attack as the featured Charged Attack for Rookidee's Community Day, but players pointed out that the combat move was already available for Corviknight. For this reason, the developers changed the featured attack to Air Cutter instead. Now that Rookidee's August Community Day has been confirmed, fans are wondering whether its shiny version could make its debut. Moreover, gathering Rookidee Candy could come in handy for players to level up their Max Moves in Pokemon GO. Some players had also voted for Rookidee in the hopes that Pokemon GO could add Gigantamax Corviknight soon, but the game hasn't hinted at its release. The developers have assured fans that more information about Rookidee's Community Day will be given in the upcoming weeks.
