In Pokemon GO, players who have reached Level 37 are eligible to submit a Waypoint nomination for the community to rate. The submitted landmarks with the highest rates have a chance to become a PokeStop, or even a Gym, on the game's real-world map. While the development team has the final say over which locations turn into PokeStops or Gyms, the nomination system has let many players earn free-to-play PokeCoins and other rewards more frequently. It is also common for busy areas to have more PokeStops and Gyms than others, though sometimes there is a substantial gap between locations. One Pokemon GO player found an incredible number of Gyms in a single area.
Pokemon GO Developer Offering Compensation For Recent Event Bug
Pokemon GO trainers recently experienced an in-game issue affecting the latest Catch Mastery event, and Niantic may be offering compensation.
Reddit user Seangetfreaky shared a screenshot of a Pokemon GO location with about 16 Gyms around a single block, all featuring Tier 5 Raids of Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos. The Legendary Birds were part of the first week of Pokemon GO's events for March 2025, so the picture is likely recent. As the player stated, they had never seen so many Raids so close to each other, to which other fans agreed. Seangetfreaky revealed that they didn't know the location of these Gyms, though, as they had access to the picture through a group chat for remote Raids.
Pokemon GO Player Finds Area Filled with Legendary Raids
While the high number of Gyms in the post surprised players, it also prompted fans to comment on the gap between rural and busy areas when playing Pokemon GO. One user pointed out that rural players often have a hard time getting one PokeStop nomination approved, while urban areas can have over a dozen Gyms in a single block like in the post. For years, rural players have complained that their surroundings have little PokeStops and Gyms, even after submitting contributions to the Pokemon GO map. A recent Research Task has given rural Pokemon GO players the advantage of catching Meloetta, but more often than not, fans who live in populated areas have a smoother experience when playing.
Pokemon GO's next Raid Day featuring Mega Absol will be on March 23. Like in most Raid events, players will be able to receive five extra passes from Gyms. Pokemon GO has also revealed some of its plans for April, including the debut of Gigantamax Snorlax.
