After a few months of stagnant Research Breakthrough Rewards, Pokemon GO players were very excited to hear that a new rotation was starting in February 2020 and the trend has continued through March and now April. Although the featured Pokemon may not be the most exciting for players who have already been grinding, there is once again an extra bonus that comes along with the encounter to help sweeten the pot this time around.
With the recent batch of breakthrough rewards out of the way, Pokemon GO trainers will soon be able to earn Research Breakthrough Reward encounters with the popular Alolan version of Exeggutor. Although Exeggutor isn't exactly important to the PvP metagame players may still want to complete the weekly tasks multiple times so that they can snag this Pokedex entry if they somehow don't have it already and also stock up on Candy for the popular species. That and earn some bonus Stardust...
The April 2020 Research Breakthrough Rewards are officially available as of today (April 1), which means it's almost time for players to start cashing in those stamps for another opportunity to encounter the special alternate version of Exeggutor. Although most players are stuck inside their houses this month, earning the Research Breakthroughs should still be pretty doable thanks to the temporary changes made to P okemon GO.
From Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. To Friday, May 1, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7), the Coconut Pokémon Alolan Exeggutor will be available as a Research Breakthrough encounter, and it’ll come with bonus Stardust.
Although Research Breakthroughs are usually popular, it seems like this batch will probably be a little less likely to motivate trainers to keep up those streaks and complete Field Research on a daily basis (it probably won't distract players from collecting the most powerful Unova region Pokemon). To earn the special research breakthrough encounters, players just need to earn 7 stamps, by completing regular field research tasks that are collected from Pokestops.
