Summary

  • Pokemon GO Fest in Jersey City offers $100 add-on with in-game items and real-life perks.
  • Players have mixed feelings about the cost of the add-on pass but find its benefits valuable.
  • Other Pokemon GO Fests in Japan and France have not announced similar add-on offers.

For the upcoming Pokemon GO Fest: Jersey City, the game unveiled a $100 Premier Access add-on for attendees. This unique opportunity comes with a number of in-game goodies, real-life perks, and a pin, but the price may make some Pokemon GO players balk.

Pokemon GO is still going strong after all these years, though not without a fair share of criticism. Nonetheless, the game has continued to offer players a way to enjoy some time outside and discover some Pokemon while they're at it. The game's continuing popularity means that the title will be holding its in-person Pokemon GO Fest event in 2025.

Pokemon GO Adds New RSVP Planner Feature

Developer Niantic adds a new RSVP planner feature to Pokemon GO, introducing very useful options for players around the world.

For fans who are attending the Pokemon GO Fest in Jersey City this year, the game unveiled a new opportunity with a $100 fee. Pokemon GO revealed the new Premier Access add-on, available solely to attendees at the Jersey City Pokemon GO Fest. This fee is in addition to the standard $30 Pokemon GO Fest live event ticket. The Pokemon GO Fest add-on provides a lot of benefits to players attending, including expedited access to the Pokemon Center Pop-Up Store, access to the Premiere Access lounge, which includes "upgraded" restrooms and locker charger kiosks, and players wil get a unique lapel pin. The pass also provides players with a ton of in-game items that can be useful during or after the GO Fest, including Poke Balls, Lure Modules, Incubators, Berries, Battle Passes, and more.

Pokemon GO Fest Add-On Pass Stirs the Playerbase

While some players voiced distaste for this additional pass and its cost, others have pointed out that the offer is actually fairly good, even if only looking at the items one gets in the game. Of course, not all players will be in need of everything that the codes provide, but it seems that many have found the in-game and in-person benefits well worth it, as the add-on pass opportunity seems to have already sold out. While Pokemon GO noted that the add-on pass would be limited, it didn't specify exactly how many would be available.

Meanwhile, for fans attending Pokemon GO Fests in Japan or France, there have strangely not been any announcements made of a similar offer. Pokemon GO notes on the add-on page that this is an offer limited to the Jersey City GO Fest, though it's not clear why. In the event that Jersey City is the only GO Fest to have something like this offered this year, that may change for future Pokemon GO Fests, if history is any indication. For example, last year Pokemon GO offered a unique opportunity to propose to a significant other during the GO Fest, and it has extended the wedding proposal opportunity to attendees of Pokemon GO Fest 2025.
