With attention already turning to Pokemon's Gen 10 games, recent leaks about the next generation's region could be a perfect opportunity to repeat one of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's subtler but successful feats. While not the first game to experiment and explore Pokemon's open-world potential, Scarlet and Violet achieved something virtually no other game in the series had through its traditional type-based Gyms, trials, and leagues. Between its Gym Leaders, Team Star Squad Bosses, Titan Pokemon, and Elite Four, Scarlet and Violet ensured that players were challenged by all 18 Pokemon types at least once.

Since past Pokemon games have typically only featured up to twelve types split between a region's eight Gyms and Elite Four, Scarlet and Violet may have set a higher standard for future games, especially if the series sticks to its open-world approach. Pokemon's Leaked Gen 10 Region Could Feature Major Battles for Every Pokemon Type

While leaks should always be treated with skepticism, a recent post from CentroLeaks, a well-known source of Pokemon rumors, has potentially revealed that the series' 10th generation of games will take place in a Greece-inspired region. More specifically, CentroLeaks claims that Pokemon Gen 10's next open-world setting will be based on the Cyclades, a Greek archipelago with up to two hundred and twenty islands in its chain. Even when only thirty or so of the Cyclades' islands are inhabited, the region's inspiration presents Game Freak with an obvious opportunity to repeat Scarlet and Violet's Pokemon type focus with a select group of 18 islands.

Gen 10's Leaked Region Could Improve on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Better yet, Pokemon's Gen 10 games could avoid the mistake Scarlet and Violet made when spotlighting every Pokemon type by capitalizing on the Ancient Greek history and mythology associated with its new region. While Scarlet and Violet had to unevenly spread their Pokemon types across Gyms, Squads, Titan Pokemon, and more, Pokemon's Gen 10 games could draw inspiration from the Greek pantheon of Gods, given that there are at least twelve "Olympians" among hundreds of minor deities. Though the Island Trials in Sun and Moon and their Ultra counterparts were functionally similar to traditional Gyms, their attempt to revamp the Pokemon formula after so many generations does suggest that players are receptive to new ideas. Therefore, if Pokemon's leaked Gen 10 region is proven true, it could be the ideal opportunity to rework these Island Trials into more competitive, challenging battles against special Pokemon. For instance, players could travel across islands to challenge Mythical Pokemon based on Ancient Greek mythology, or it could spotlight the debut of Gen 10's newest Pokemon akin to Scarlet and Violet's Paradox Pokemon.
