Speculation about Pokemon's Gen 10 games may have just been reinvigorated thanks to Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket and its latest expansion, Wisdom of Sea and Sky. Though Game Freak has yet to officially confirm if Pokemon's tenth generation is in development, rumors and leaks about the series' next game duology have been circulating. Some of those rumors may have been strengthened by Pokemon TCG Pocket's most recent expansion, which may have ties to Pokemon Gen 10.

Pokemon TCG Pocket's new Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion is based on Pokemon Gold and Silver's Johto region and its Pokemon, and its name may be inspired by Gen 2's mascot Legendary Pokemon, Ho-Oh and Lugia. However, TCG Pocket could also be using its latest expansion to lay the groundwork for Pokemon's next two games and the region that they are rumored to be set in. It could be some time until any rumors, leaks, or speculation are proven true, though, as Legends: Z-A, which is set to launch in October of this year, is currently taking center stage.

While all rumors should be approached with some amount of skepticism, the setting for Pokemon's Gen 10, and the games' names, may have already been "confirmed." More specifically, leaks have prompted theories suggesting that the next two games will be called "Kaze" and "Nami," or "Winds" and "Waves" when translated from Japanese into English. With the added context that Japanese-English translations are not always one-to-one when it comes to game titles and Pokemon themselves, TCG Pocket's new sea- and sky-themed expansion has seemingly given weight to this theory.

Pokemon TCG Pocket's Newest Expansion Comes At The Perfect Time

It is difficult to ignore that the name of Pokemon TCG Pocket's newest expansion, Wisdom of Sea and Sky, is strikingly similar to the rumored titles for the Gen 10 games, Wind and Waves. As previously mentioned, Wisdom of Sea and Sky could simply be inspired by Ho-Oh and Lugia, though that connection seems tenuous. Indeed, while both of these Pokemon are dual Flying types, and have an obvious connection to the sky, neither is a Water-type, and they are usually referred to as the tower duo among Legendary Pokemon. This makes Wisdom of Sea and Sky an unusual name for the expansion, and the following seem like more plausible options if the name is nothing more than a reference to the Gen 2 Legendaries:

Heart and Soul
Brass and Bell Towers
Silver and Rainbow Wings
Fire- and Psychic-types

Moreover, Wisdom of Sea and Sky might not be the only TCG Pocket expansion with ties to Gen 10. With rumors suggesting that there may be similarities between Pokemon Gen 10's setting and Gen 7's, the Celestial Guardian expansion, which released earlier this year and revisited the Alolan islands, may also have a connection to the forthcoming games. As a result, while players have been focused on Legends: Z-A as Pokemon's next mainline game, TCG Pocket's expansions may be turning the franchise's long-term plans to its advantage ahead of any official news about Gen 10.
