HM01 Cut Location

HM01 Cut can be found in the Captain’s Cabin in the S.S. Anne, the luxury cruise ship docked in Vermilion City in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. To come aboard the S.S. Anne, you’ll need the S.S. Ticket, a Key Item that can be obtained by talking to the Pokemon Researcher Bill in the Sea Cottage on the eastern corner of Route 25.

From Cerulean City, head north through the Nugget Bridge into Route 24. Continue eastward until you reach Route 25, then keep going east, past the hedges with the trainers to reach the Sea Cottage.

Enter the house and talk to the Clefairy standing in the middle of the room. This is actually Bill, who has combined his DNA with a Pokemon, and now needs your help to reverse it.

After some dialogue, Bill will enter the machine to reverse the experiment. Walk up to his desk and press A on the PC. After the reversion is done, Bill will become human again and, as a reward, will give you the S.S. Ticket.

With the S.S. Ticket in hand, go back to Cerulean City and head south into Route 5. Use the Underground Path next to the Day Care to reach Route 6, which will directly lead you to Vermilion City.

Head to the S.S. Anne, which is docked in the south harbor. Present the ticket to the guard, and he will let you pass through.

Use the stairs west of the entrance to reach the upper deck (2F).

Then, turn south, and then east, ignoring the stairs to the left. At the far end of the deck, turn north, and you’ll be confronted by your rival, who is ready to fight.

Defeat him in battle, and climb the stairs behind him to reach the Captain’s Quarters. Talk to the Captain and give him a back rub to receive HM01 Cut.
