Summary

  • A Pokemon fan artist created an Eternal Flower Floette drawing inspired by the "sad ant" meme.
  • The artist shared their Floette on social media, receiving praise and comparisons to the sad ant meme.
  • The backstory of AZ and Eternal Flower Floette is one of the darkest in the Pokemon franchise's history.

A Pokemon fan artist crafted their version of Floette's Eternal Flower form and parodied the popular "sad ant" meme with their handiwork. The Pokemon fan artist then shared their Floette on social media with other trainers, who commented on the sad ant meme that the Floette drawing was inspired by.

Known as the Single Bloom Pokemon, Floette first appeared in Pokemon X and Y as a Fairy-type critter. Floette evolves from Flabebe at level 19, and later into Florges when exposed to a Shiny Stone by its trainer. The flower that Floette uses to glide can have different colored petals, such as red, blue, and orange. A unique form of Floette called Eternal Flower Floette was created after AZ, the former king of the Kalos region, used the Ultimate Weapon to revive his Floette. Floette's body and flower were altered to reflect the Ultimate Weapon's image. Floette can be found in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in grassy areas scattered throughout the Paldea region, including Area Zero.

A talented dice crafter shows off the Pokemon die they created, which is surprisingly large and is based off of the design of classic Poke Balls.

Although other artists have depicted Floette in different ways, a Pokemon trainer chose Eternal Flower Floette and combined it with a popular meme. On the r/Pokemon subreddit, a Reddit user named AlligatorPencil drew the Eternal Flower Floette in the style of the "sad ant" meme, with its flower bud closed and a grim expression on its face. The artist shared the sad ant meme as a point of comparison for their work. In the drawing, Floette turned its gloomy black eyes toward the camera, with its blue antenna drooping downward and a frown on its face. The red and black flower it uses to fly, which is normally open, had its bud closed. Floette carried its closed flower like it was a knapsack attached to a stick, similar to the sad ant that it was inspired by.

Pokemon Fan Draws Eternal Flower Floette Like The Sad Ant Meme

The sad ant originated from a pest control advertisement, meant to portray the ant as "homeless" following home treatment. In the same way, Floette's grim expression was interpreted by other Reddit users as how it would have looked after learning it was revived by AZ's use of the Ultimate Weapon. Given that the weapon was fueled by the lives of other Pokemon, the story of AZ and Floette is among the darkest tales in Pokemon franchise history to date.

Pokemon fans complimented AlligatorPencil for their Floette artwork. With both AZ and the Eternal Flower Floette set to appear in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it remains to be seen what roles they will play in the game's main story.
