A talented Pokemon fan has recently devised a new Mega Evolution for Sunflora in their latest artwork. Introduced in Pokemon X and Y, Mega Evolutions are temporary transformations that make some creatures stronger than usual, and they have been very popular in Pokemon fan art since they were first revealed.
Sunflora is a Grass-type creature that originally appeared in Pokemon Gold and Silver. In both games, players can capture a Sunkern in Route 24 or the National Park, then evolve it into Sunflora using a Sun Stone. Sunkern greatly resembles a sunflower and has access to powerful abilities such as Solar Beam and Seed Bomb, which are learned by levels 31 and 39, respectively.
Now, a prolific Pokemon fan artist called Just-Drawing-Mons designed a new Mega Evolution for Sunflora. In this new form, Mega Sunflora’s head is essentially a sun, and the creature’s body is slightly different, looking bigger and with some grey parts. Only 48 Pokemon in the franchise currently have Mega Evolutions, and Sunflora is not one of them, so it’s interesting to see this new take on the Gen 2 monster.

Last week, Just-Drawing-Mons created a Steel/Electric-type variant for Sudowoodo. In this fan art, the artist reimagined the Rock-type creature, which originally looked like a tree, into a traffic light post. It was a fairly clever twist that still greatly resembled the original critter while giving it a completely different appearance.
Other artists who love Pokemon have also created new forms for Sunflora. A few months ago, for example, a creator devised a different evolution for Sunflora. This artist drew three distinct designs, reimagining the creature inspired by different parts of a plant’s lifecycle. In this case, the first form maintained the classic sunflower look, but had more leaves than usual, while the second form kept this overall shape, but had more colors, looking brighter and more developed. The final form, however, resembles a rotten plant nearing the final stages of its life.
The Pokemon community loves to come up with new Mega Evolutions, and it’s likely that fans will come up with even more interesting art pieces soon. Last week, another fan devised an amazing new Mega Evolution for Blastoise. Unlike the creature’s official Mega Evolution, which has a bigger cannon but still greatly resembles the original monster, this new version was greatly inspired by Wartortle, having an amazing wave-inspired tail and other details that resembled Blastoise’s previous form.
